Breckenridge Adds New Terrain For Ski Season
(AP) BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. Breckenridge Ski Resort is planning to open 150 acres of terrain to its park this ski season. The new terrain includes seven steep chutes that have been off limits to ski enthusiasts.

Resort spokeswoman Nicky DeFord said the terrain, called Snow White, caters to the stronger skier and rider.

The area has always been in the resort's boundaries, but was closed off to visitors because it entailed a 45 minute hike to the top. That worried patrollers because of the high avalanche danger.

Resort officials and the U.S. Forest Service still need to put Snow White in the resort's master plan before it can be officially opened. Officials were set to meet this fall.

Where is this new skiing? Beaver creek is also opening new "expert" skiing. Seems like a nice trend.

I don't know where it is either. And what does a 45-minute hike have to do with avalanche danger, unless it's because the hike itself is exposed?

the new terrain is to the skiers right of the lake chutes on the far outside of imperial, if my information is correct it will drop you down into boundary chute and will require a ride back up chair six to get back up top. That area has historicaly had spotty coverage when I have skiied it as backcountry but hopefuly it will be good expecially for this first year.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"
