I just got my Powder Magazine, and there is a really cool ad for Mammoth in it. It shows chair 14 buried up to the hanger arms of the chairs. It reads: "Don't worry, we'll have it dug out by November 9th." Anyone want to scan it? Does anyone else have cool butied lifts photos? Here is one from Mt Waterman: (not from the ad)

That lift looks an awful lot like it is the old homade single chair at Mt.Waterman. It was upgraded with SLI carriers. Mt.Waterman ski area's future is uncerain.

Wow, that is Mt Waterman, chair 2 I belive. That picture was taken 2 seasons ago. I think a member posted it on the Mammoth forum in a trip report. Doesn't everyone just love when an add pretends what something is?

I agree it is a cool picture but false advertising!

Besides, I don't think the real one can get burried no matter how much it snows. It is 20-25 feet above the snow in these photos which has to be a 2-4 foot packed base.

Are you saying that chair 14 wasn't really buried? As I stated in my first post, the picture from Mt Waterman is not the one in the ad. The picture in the ad is indeed chair 14 at Mammoth buried. I just posted the Waterman photo because it is another cool buried lift picture.

Can someone scan the ad from Powder Magazine because I'm kind of curious to see it now. None of the bookstores in my area carry Powder Magazine due to a sharp decline in skiing magazines these days.

Oh, ok I thought you were saying that photo was the ad.

I guess 14 could have been burried but that seems pretty crazy. I'd like to see the scan of the ad.

Kind of a shoddy photo, but it shows the burial. Looks mostly like wind-blown snow.

That picture is *somewhat* false advertising, as that is from wind drifting. Chair 14 is on the N facing windward edge of the mountain. That spot is just before the top terminal and it get a lot of wind. A few yards to the W of that has no snow all season long. If they wanted to point out that Mammoth has tons of wind drift, then that is a good picture to do so.
