Wow. You're planning on opening Storm King first day. Should be fun.

Keystone will always be in the doughnut hole.

Yeah, I thought about doing the 6 hr drive, one run, ski trip. But having to pay for the gas, which seems to go up after companys report record earnings, all while being blasted by 35MPH+ winds and "snain", all didn't seem to add up. Looked like fun, SAMS will always find the snow. Ill hit them up in April, after everyone closes. Spread Eagle,WI, is just down the road, home to cold beer and warm women.

Skier, you left out Timberline, OR.

I think Timberline was actually open before A-Basin even opened up.

Keystone was packed today. At least the parking lot was. I was there filling out paperwork and the parking lot looked like a typical mid season weekend.

There is snow in the Muskoka area of Ontario. About 1 1/2 inches fell in the last few days with another inch overnight and today. Temperatures are staying below zero for the most part. Can't wait for the snow to stick around and for the season to begin.

Isn't Timberline normally open all year round?

I'll bet it was. What was open? What was A-Basin like?

I skied A-Basin last week, and they had Ramrod and High Noon open from the Exhibition lift. They also had the Norway lift open with one trail down. They were blowing snow in a couple of places, but watch out for rocks. My girlfriend may have trashed a pair of skis on her first day! Besides that the snow was great. It kind of felt like eastern skiing, but was pretty soft.

Timberline is open all year round, but not on days when the weather is really bad.

Well this is just wounderful! Heavy rain in the Seattle area as well as the Washington Cascades for the next few days. Several inches expected, major flooding taking place, state of emergancy declared, and any snow that was up in the mountains is now long gone. Current freezing level is at 10,000 feet, with even more heavy rain to come.

Crystal Mt was open by this time last year (very early!!!!) but as of now, not a single speck of snow is sitting on the ground up there.

Off to a great start!

Don't worry, next week looks good, and it is still very early. It really only takes one good storm to open the resorts. The average opening for Crystal in the past 25 seasons is November 24th, still two and a half weeks away.

Yeah it's currently +12 Celcius here! There is some snow up top, but unless it cools down damn quick, I bet it will be gone.

Have a great winter and have fun on skiing and snowboarding soon. My area in Salt Lake Valley...there is no snow and not much snow on the mountian. The temperature is around 60 and sunny. I heard Alta plans to open November 16, which that is next week, but there are not much snow (only 2 feet snow). Good luck to them.

Here is one article, there is a ski accident man at Alta last Sunday.

http://deseretnews.c...0204818,00.html

Ski accident leaves man with possible broken leg

ALTA — A 24-year-old man was in stable condition Sunday with a possible broken leg after a skiing accident on U.S. Forest Service property.
The Salt Lake City resident was air-lifted to LDS Hospital.
Tom Bolen, deputy marshal for the town of Alta, said one of the man's friends called emergency dispatchers at 2:40 p.m. Sunday after the man's ski hit a rock and he took a spill. Bolen said the man was in so much pain, rescuers suspected he may have broken his femur.
The man was part of a group of friends who hiked up the mountain and then skied down, Bolen said.
The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department's Search and Rescue team assisted with the effort.

Is that a good thing? They are forecasted to get some snow. Yesterday, though it was a scorcher. 60 degrees in Leadville, almost 80 here. I'm going skiing this weekend, but I don't know where. What's going to be open at Breck?
