I love mountain biking, so it's only natural that I am interested in the systems that enable me (more or less) to do my sport.

Lifts are a very practicl way of getting bikes + riders to the top.

List systems (bike carriers)

1. Whistler System (ill post pics for those who dont know what it is.
2. Panorama System. (hook mounted on chair ion which bike is mounted, ill post pics)

Any others known?

COP is where I go, and they run legacy on weekends and eastside on weekdays.

would love to get to panorama, but no time.

cheers, Jesse

I'm not sure about what carriers they use but I do know that Highland Bike Park here in NH does lift serviced mountain biking exclusively. Highland Ski area was a lost ski area that recently reopened with the original Borvig triple chair as the lift used for transporting bikes and riders.

Chairlift n. A transportation system found at most ski areas in which a series of chairs suspended from a cable rapidly conveys anywhere from one to eight skiers from the front of one line to the back of another.

Pretty much every resort that you go to has some system for mountain bikes.

Keystone - sometimes the gondola, and sometimes Summit Express. I guess it's the only time to service the gondola.

Copper - American Eagle

Breckenridge - Colorado Superchair and lift 5

Vail - Vista Bahn for mountain bikers, and the gondola for sightseers

Beaver Creek - Centennial Express

Winter Park - Zephyr Express

Steamboat - Gondola

Aspen - I know that the gondola's open, but i dont know if it's for mountain bikers. I can't imagine fitting a mountain bike in one of those old cramped gondola cars

Breck only uses the colorado for biking, Chair 5 is only for the alpine slide. They did use the old quicksilver for biking back in 1996(?) when they installed the Rocky Mountain. Thats why theres a series of trails on peak 9 but now no lift access for them.

Vail doesn't load bikes on Vista Bahn. Only the gondola. Keystone is no longer using their gondola for summer operations. Now, only the summit express is open for summit operations. The outpost gondola remains open for dinner reservations only. They closed the river run because it was taking too much wear and tear on the old system. They had to make a descision to run it in the winter or the summer. They chose winter.(obviously) One to add to the list would be Telluride's Gondola systems. They have the same setup for mounting as Keystone whivh is a big hook that hooks the bike tire's inside rim. I don't have a picture though.

I can most likely find a bunch of photos of lifts for the summer since I am a mountain bike photographer. So far I have been to mammoth, northstar at tahoe, keystone, snowmass, angel fire, big bear, schwietzer(idaho), brian head(utah), and deer valley.

SolVista's Quick Draw Express lift hauls bikes up by sitting them in the chair.

I am pretty sure Deer Valley runs a lift too. I am not sure which one.

DV usually runs the Sterling lift, but this year while Sterling's being replaced, they ran the Wasatch HSQ for summer ops. I guess Sterling will get the job back next summer

Floridaskier is correct that Silver Lake Express and Wasatch Express run for mountain bikers and senic rides for summer. I asked the shuttle driver that will Sterling Express run for next summer...the driver answered yes. The shuttle takes senic ride people between Silver Lake Express and Wasatch Express recenlty summer. Both will be closed tomorrow for end of the summer.

Mountain Bike at Deer Valley is more popular than Park City. PayDay Express and Town Lift (fixed grip) run for both mountain bike and senic rides. I have seen a few bikers at Park City. They will be closed on October 15.

Solitude Ski Resort...only one lift Sunrise Lift runs from thurday to sunday for mountain bike and senic rides (reason I often up to Brighton for both summer and winter...I have a own cabin on the ski slope area).

Snowbasin runs gondola for both mountain bike and senic riders.

If they do, then it is fairly new.

We have a "homemade" rack we use on our 6 seat gondola. It works fine but its not original and approved so it will be removed this season. I'm told other 6 packs use the cabins with lift seats to make room inside. A nightmare for those clear shiny windows. They're so much fun to shift out!

Some chairs use a seperate carrier with a sort of tree. Bikes only. I'm told this works well at Whistler-Blackcomb.

Here's a fresh pic. from the Doppelmayr showroom in Wolfurt of a carrier.
