Who came up with the grip? Was it Garaventa or CTEC. You see the grip on pre merger CTEC lifts like Grouse Mountain Express, but you also see it on pre merger Garaventa lifts in Europe.

It's a Garaventa design.

There have been a few lift manufacturers use other companies grip designs while building their own detachable lifts. A good example is the Yan gondola at Squaw Valley, CA which used Von Roll grips, the CTEC gondola at Sugar Bowl, CA that uses Von Roll grips also.

Thanks for the info!

So I guess CTEC had relations with Garaventa before the merger.

CTEC first worked with Garaventa in 1990. They bought the rights to Garaventa’s detachable grip for North America and produced detachables starting in 1990 with Bear Mountain being the first one.

Several years later, Garaventa bought controlling interest in CTEC and the name became Garaventa CTEC, doing business as CTEC Garaventa. They wanted to slowly evolve the name Garaventa into the North American market.

At that time, Garaventa was working on a new spring grip similar to Poma’s and Leitner’s grip. Doppelmayr already had the Agamatic spring grip. Many of those new spring Garaventa grips were built across North America before the Doppelmayr purchase of G-C.

Upon the purchase of Garaventa by Doppelmayr, they are now using only the Doppelmayr Agamatic spring and Torsion bar grips.

For that spring one that looks like Leitner's, are you talking about the ones on the PCMR 6Packs
