The Mercury Super Chair at Breck starts well up the hill and to the skier's right from the Beaver Run Super Chair. It terminates slightly above, but very near the top of Beaver Run. It seems strange to change names between the lifts, but I can't give a concrete answer. Just a bit of input.

Well, I know they changed the name. I think it had something to do with the naming of the beaver run village.
The original name for the current Beaver Run Express was definately Mercury. I think the name was actually changed a couple of years before the current Mercury was built maybe '94 or '95

from my website:
the lift was named to honor the mercury space crew, but then was later changed to represent a name people more associated with the chairlift. the newer mercury lift then obtained the name.

In 1990, the Mercury Super Chair is installed (now called the Beaver Run
Chair). For the opening celebrations, astronauts John Glenn, Alan
Shepard, Scott Carpenter, and Gordon Cooper attended. Lift tickets are
now at 36 dollars.

The Mercury chair was renamed "Beaver Run" because it starts at the Beaver Run Resort. When Breck did that the locals were very upset as the Mercury name had historical significance. So Breck named the next quad up the mountain Mercury - just to take the pressure off.
