Here is a topic where anyone can post pics of lifts in the process of being maintained. I'll start:

Indianhead's Winnebego chair recieved all new paint this summer. Even though no actual pics of the painting, the end results still look nice.

The Tomahawk T-bar at Indian had had its bullwheel removed most likely for maint but it also could be a replacement. Notice the gear hanging down is the pinion as this lift is a ring and pinion setup. The mounts for the bullwheel are also seen. The other two pics are of the clamps for the detensoining of the haul rope.

I don't think he is. It appears that the right side, where the guy is is going uphill.

That is an interesting detensioner in the Powderhorn photo, It looks a bit different than the two I have worked with. Is it a newer version or homemade? It sure looks lighter than ours.

\We have the same thing on a smaller scale to pull comm lines tight by their messengers. I didn't know they could be used on haul ropes!!

Breck has the same one. It's definitely lighter; I assume you've got the one made out of 1" slabs of steel with a stout ram slung underneath?

This tree came down a few weeks ago on our Vista chair. In the close up, you can see the damaged assembly. The rope came to rest on the axle housing, but had no damage. The chair uphill of the tree did a 360 around the rope and caught one of the comm lines. Perfect timing too - It was splice day on our new 6 pack.

From the first pix, I don't know if I would want to be the dude with the chain saw perched atop the cut.
Reminds me of the classical character with the ladder on a tree branch sawing the inside. :pinch:

Looking at this a second time, if the tree slips off the rope, the man is either going down with the tree or
becomes sling shot fodder.

You forgot the new snowmaking system!!!! It was an interesting summer on dollar. which could have been for nothing if we get a hsq over there next year, then again they were suppose to get a hsq next summer... five summers ago.

Now that's a real tree. Ive seen a few trees on the line before but nothing this big. Its not a good feeling watching or cutting them off. Lucky it sounds like mininal damage.

Certainly makes the case for daily line checks before starting your lift.

It happened a while ago so I have only heard stories about it but we had a large tree fall on one of our lifts.
This lift has a Yan remote counterweight with 1" cable. the tree bounced the lift so hard that it slung the counterwieght up and over its support tower and from varying reports as far as 30-40 yards! I am not sure whether or not I am glad I was not there. It would have been a sight to see that is for sure. I guess this also could be a post for the tension topic about the worlds biggest sling shot. :shocking:

Here's the result of a tree on the Granite chair several years back... I've got some better pics at work, I should borrow the album and scan them.

I've posted these here before somewhere...
