I noticed a few things in this months issue:

1. It has shrunk a lot! I guess they are trying to go monthly, so it is ok.

2. In the lift map section ( http://www.mountainresortmag.com/coppermin...ils.php?album=6 ), they seem to show the Alpine Meadows lift at Silver Star going from the top of the T-Bar to the top of the mountain. They also only had 24 lifts of the 50 or so new lifts being installed.

Dead right on both accounts,

the lift installations are provided by the manufacturers as of late May, thanks to Tom and Mike, we use the new ones only for this issue--- a couple other are missing as the resort did not have a map we could use,

And we are indeed trying to go monthly, it seems like the right thing to do to keep the info out there and free for all levels at the hill. Every other industry has a monthly trade and this has always been our goal, the bike industry has 18-times per year with BRAIN---so we cut the mailing costs by going lighter paper, fewer pages, smaller fonts, more stories this issue, shorter stories---it helps but not all the way---word count is way up, what is down are all the huge photos---we feel bad about that---it's close to financially doable---depends on how the industry suppliers respond.

The thing we learned those few years working for Ski et. all was this thing called "ad soak." So say you have a mag where 50% of the real estate is advertising, that is very successful and my wife and I would not be working all the other jobs---more than 60% and the readers see nothing but ads and they don't like to pay for ads---anyway all last year we were at about 20% ad soak on a good day, so for 64 pages, 80% was editorial---you can check other pubs to see where they are---- but we are growing and it seemed like a good time to try to make the move. This is up to our readers, if they dig it, it'll go, if not, we can stay the same way, tough call, let us know, check out the new site if ya like. thanks for the feedback, email us directly anytime too.

I thought the Mid-T at Silver Star was going to be replaced by the new Alpine Meadows chairlift because of the real-estate developement at the base of the t-bar.
