One of my favorite lifts is TGV @ Tremblant. I think its the fastest I've been on, has anyone else been on faster ones?

I have a movie of it here TGV

Also, is it just me or are the Poma quads really loud and make clickety clank sounds the entire way up

The TGV's pretty fast, 5.5 m/s (the fastest quad in North America), but there are, I think, some lifts that can run at 6 m/s, but I think they're supposed to run at 5.

Here's a pic

It was built for the 1993-94 ski season to replace a very slow dop FGQ. Same lift line. The FGQ moved on the edge side the same year

TGV Lift STATS:

Motor: 600HP
Length: 4429 ft
Verticle: 1128
Capacity: 1800
Speed: 1100 ft/m

T.G.V. isn't the fastest lift in North America, however is one of the fastest. Expo runs the same speed as T.G.V. too.

The Expo runs a bit slower because at the top it doesn't launch you as fast as the t.g.v

That sounds pretty fast. I wish the lifts here ran 5.5 m/s or so

I rode Expo and TGV all day long, because the dopps are too damn slow for a hsq

Expo is a LITTLE slower than TGV, but not by much. I do know 100% that it is just as fast as the gondola, and a LITTLE faster. You can see when you ride the gondola that the chairs are going by you a tiny bit faster.

TGV was built in 93? That things almost 10 years old! It runs and looks like new. Does anyone else have stats on tremblant as far as their other lifts go? That edge quad is REALLY slow. Is it a staedili? (sp <_< ?)

TGV sent my friends dad flying on his butt it was great...

When we get on.. we're just like "Hey mr. s..Your going to want to hold on..why? WOW THIS THING IS FAST.."(As we fly past the first 3 towers in about half a second :---:

I love how it makes that VROOOOOOMmmmmm noise when you go by the towers..

Can you be more specific Dan? Doppelmayr has 3 types of safety bars. They are automatic, spring loaded, and the standard kind.

Standard has this bar which is behind the seat and is actually part of the safety bar.

I think they are the spring loaded ones..they'll pop halfway up if you don't have your skis on the foot rest. They have little black things with I'm assuming a spring on each side where the bar connects to the chair. I'm sorry I'm not to good with technical terms...

I know what you mean. When I was at Mt. Bachelor I saw a lift mechanic tightening the spring box with a wrench. The bar wasn't staying up like it should and falling down when the chairlift entered the terminal. I'm guessing that the reason why the safety bar was popping up when you were on it is because the spring box was too tight.

Anyway, time to get back on topic. :P
