Is anyone interested in seeing blueline's (blueprints) of the Ski Idlewild double chair?

It'll take some effort to upload pics so I want to make sure there is interest.

Was Idlewild not financially capable of maintaining that lift or what happened to cause it to suddenly fall appart?

The intermidiate lift inspections were performed and certified by the ski area manager. All that was required was a public notary. The old documents I have read really erk me. I would hope the tramway board is better at enforcing maintenence than they were in the 70's and 80's.

I think the sheave train failure was just a small part of a big problem. The aging lift wasn't being maintained because the area didn't have enough money. When the sheaves dropped, it gave them a bad image and they didn't have any money to fix the problem and the place just shutdown.

Yeah, I'm sure the sheave train was the straw that broke the camel's back...

yeah, thought so

i "rode" chair 8 on the ski idlewild double chair. it seemed pretty safe except for the fact of using an old ladder to get up on the chair. it's a nice place to eat a breakfast sandwich
