Any idea what is going in at Lookout Pass and Wolf Mountain? (used, but wondering what type and from where)

Wolf Mountain is getting the old sterling triple from Deer Valley.

The Peak to Peak at Whistler Blackcomb is missing from the list unless you're putting it in the 2008 list.

For some reason their marketing department says they are not getting a new lift, even though you and others have said they are. You'd think that would be something they would want to be known?

Would this be the Sunrise Quad becoming Black Mountain Quad? Cause I do not recall an Olympic Chair on Cypress.

You Also forgot Wolf Ridge's Doppelmayr CTEC Double, called the scenic lift. It will provide ski out acess fo people in Breakaway Village, the first Ski-in and Ski-out village on the east coast! Also, they say it's the first new NC mountain town in 100 years! But that may not be neccicarly true. Beech Mountain is on top of a mountain, and it was created in the 1960s.

More lifts for Doppelmayr!

This article sheds some light on the Squaw six pack, Homewood detachable quad, and a triple going in at Northstar. Anyone know where exactly it will go?

Ski resorts continue working throughout summer

Joanna Hartman
Bonanza News Service
July 6, 2007

The Sierra ski season ended months ago, but for area ski resorts summer is a busy time readying for the following winter.

"The way it works in the ski area is: You close the doors in the winter and you start preparing for the next winter," said General Manager Kent Hoopingarner of Homewood Mountain Resort.

Both Homewood and Squaw Valley are replacing principal chairlifts this off-season, a task that takes months of labor and costs upward of $4 million each.

Squaw Valley is replacing the Shirley Lake quad with a state-of-the-art, high speed, six-pack Doppelmayr, said Squaw Valley spokeswoman Savannah Cowley.

"Shirley is the most-ridden lift because it accesses so much intermediate terrain, and to get to other terrain," she said.

A helicopter made an appearance Monday to remove the old lift towers.

Homewood Mountain Resort is replacing a 35-year-old, four-person chairlift with a high-speed, detachable lift. The venerable quad was the first one constructed in the United States and services the intermediate runs high on the mountain, Hoopingarner said.

"It's like if you don't have (a high-speed lift), you ain't nothing. Plus the chair was old and really needed to be replaced. It was time," he said.

The quad will cost $4 million, about $1,000 per foot. And the ride to the top will be slashed from 19 to four minutes, said President Art Chapman of JMA Ventures, the ski area's owner.

Last winter Homewood brought on four new snowcats, and with a low snowpack this year will essentially have a new fleet for next winter, Hoopingarner said.

In preparation for the 2007-08 ski season, Northstar-at-Tahoe is replacing rental equipment, expanding snowmaking systems, adding four intermediate ski trails and installing a triple chairlift at Overlook Place.

"In addition to the development taking place in the Village at Northstar and around the resort, we are excited about the on-mountain improvements - the snowmaking improvements and new trails, as well as the new rental equipment we are purchasing," said Northstar spokeswoman Jessica Van Pernis in an e-mail.

Additionally, East West Partners resumed construction of the Ritz-Carlton, a five-star resort lodge expected to propel Northstar into a top destination.

Alpine Meadows ski area's sale to Homewood owner JMA Ventures is still pending. The deal should close within 10 days, Chapman said.

Right now the ski resort is conducting summer business as usual maintaining its lifts and equipment.

"I don't know quite what is in store for capital improvements at this time," said Alpine Meadows spokeswoman Rachael Woods. "We're waiting with an open mind and excited about the future. All we need is snow."

Another article about Lookout Mountain at Northstar. I am a little confused, but it sounds to me like Lookout Mountain Express (GaraventaCTEC) is being lengthened significantly. Whether the "new" doppelmayr lift is actually new or not is yet to be seen.
Or could it be a new hsq and the extension?

PLANNED EXTENSION OF NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ RESORT'S LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN® LIFT WILL ENHANCE SKIER EXPERIENCE, PROVIDE DIRECT ACCESS FROM MARTIS CAMP

Truckee, Calif. – Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort’s Lookout Mountain ski slopes will be extended into the luxury residential community of Martis Camp, the community’s developer, DMB/Highlands, announced today.

Chris Ryman, speaking on behalf of Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort owners and operators, said the extension of Lookout Mountain’s ski trails to Martis Camp is “a natural extension of Lookout Mountain’s lift and trails, which will allow Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort guests to enjoy an enhanced skiing experience.”

Plans call for the lift extension to Martis Camp to be accompanied by the extension of four Lookout Mountain trails and the addition of a new intermediate trail to the east of the Lookout Mountain lift. The length of the lift will increase from 3,200 feet to 4,800 feet, and the project will add 46 acres of ski trails and 35 acres of snowmaking coverage.

The expansion of the Lookout Mountain lift and trail system will allow Martis Camp members and their guests to directly access Northstar Resort’s extensive system of ski trails. This access will come via a Doppelmayr-built detachable quad chair lift and will be supported by a base facility where lift tickets can be purchased and snow sports lessons arranged for Martis Camp members and their guests.

“This direct access to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort puts Martis Camp in a class with only a handful of other residential communities in the Western United States. It also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to provide a broad variety of unparalleled experiences within the Martis Camp community,” said Mark Johnson, a DMB/Highlands principal.

Although the lift extension and trail additions are subject to approvals from Placer County and other regulatory agencies, and to customary title review, the agreements once again evidence cooperative efforts between the development and conservation interests within the Martis Valley.

Martis Camp is a luxury residential community with unparalleled four-season amenities, which include a Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course; a 50,000-plus square-foot Camp Lodge that serves the golf course and community; and a Family Barn with a summer swimming venue, a soda fountain, bowling lanes, movie theatre and an outdoor amphitheatre with performance stage. This year-round community also features an extensive system of neighborhood parks and trails.

The addition of on-property ski access promises Martis Camp members yet another exceptional amenity among the growing list of multi-generational, family activities that set it apart as one of North America’s premier luxury communities.

I think Northstar bought the Sultan triple from Deer Valley in 2005, so that could be where the Overlook Place triple is coming from

Wow, that's depressing... D-CTEC outnumbers L-P 3 to 1. I wonder if L-P will ever catch up.

I heard that has been put off until at least next year. and It is not on L-P's list for this summer, so unless they are switching manufacturers, it is not going in this year.

Is it a sure thing that Steamboat is installing the Christie 6 chair this summer? I saw a photo on their website dated 6/7/07 which showed the Gondola square and Headwall lift (The double Miner-Denver chair slated for removal) fully intact with chairs still on line and all. No evidence of construction and their website does not have anything about it. Anyone been to Steamboat lately?

Yes, it is a sure thing and this pic was on their website showing the progress...

They are grading the whole run down there before building the new lift on top of it. It looks like one of the Christie lifts has been removed. I don't know if Leitner-Poma has pics of it in their photo gallery because the Firewall on my home network blocks it because of a certificate error.
