Technical web sites:

rmla.org : Rocky Mountian Lift Association: see Newsletter 2003 - nice article about Vail's lift maintenance crew Presidents Day solution to an interesting problem. Also a non-typical installation at Sunshine Village.
dora.state.co.us/tramway/ : Colorado Tramway Board: This site covers everything in Colorado - from proposed code changes to citations of ski areas.
http://www.oitaf.org/index_e.htm: Older (perhaps oldest) technical organization, based in Europe, membership is heavily weighted towards ownership groups and tramway boards.
ISR.at : (yes that’s .at) Technical site and magazine from europe.Tough to find with a Google search. Has english version.

Web addresses sometimes change with time. If you're having trouble with old links, try a search engine with the base word.

Yea it's a double. It seems like a waste of money in some aspects when I think about it. I think they should have made it a HSQ or used that money to replace another lift or something, because it's expensive to run and maintain a lift with a low lift capacity. :tired:

To most of us it's a waste- however, this is Aspen we're talking about. According to their management (or at least what they saw fit to tell the lift monkeys), Ruthie's was built as a double so it would retain the ambiance of the lift it replaced while adding the convenience of modern technology. This only makes sense when you consider Aspen's clientele :D I don't get it either, but that's the way it is...

Low Capacity High Speed lifts are fairly popular, they're just usually quads! They're meant to get the people up the mountain quicker, not necessarily more people. I would hope that this double could be upgraded fairly easily to a quad.

I'm pretty sure that this particular lift is a quad, except for the carriers.
BTW- nice Yan motor room on your avatar, Allan.

Yes that lift is built as a HSQ. The chairs are Triples. But 95% of the time they have it for 2 people per chair. I was there one weekend where it was a triple.

Pony up the cash, and you can  I don't know how much it costs, but there are several ways you can attend:
1) become a lift mechanic or lift operator and your mountain will send you
2) attend as a product representative
3) (and I'm not sure about this one) try to attend as an administrator of skilifts.org- that would get you in the 'industry associates' group.

I don't think Joe Public can attend, unless you just want to hear the keynote speaker, in which case you're paying for dinner and a slide show :---: The conference is a great deal of fun- attend classes all day, and   all night... Closer to your end of the world is the PNSAA Spring Seminar up in Hood River. They also allow cat operators to attend, but otherwise see above.
