Living in SLC which of course was the headquarters of CTEC we have a whole mess of them out here.
I can't think of a new lift in Utah that wasn't a CTEC in the last ten twenty years
(I am not that old but have reasearched it). Since Alta is Yan and then there are some old Riblets, and one SLI that I know of we don't have much verity but I would have to say that CTEC has gone down hill since the buy out.

The Canyons have to POMA's and a Doppelmayr. Snowbasin is all Doppelmayr lifts pretty much.
I can't tell yet if their products have gone downhil or not. Although the latest Garaventa CTEC person chairs really are P.O.S. and they hurt you back when your on the chair. I really liked the chair design that is used at Park City rather than the ones at Willamette Pass.

One thing I have noticed ( not that it matters to me) that people say that the Yans are alot smoother than the CTEC's i don't know why although i do agree.

Wow, some severe CTEC-blasiting going on here. However, I must admit that Doppelmayr lifts- which I used to really not like- have grown on me a lot. That Spacejet at Mammoth is really nice. Also, I'm all in favor of DoppelmayrCTEC swtiching over to the Doppelmayr chair design. They seem to be just as comfy as CTEC chairs, and now I think they look nicer too.
Which grip does the UNI-GS use? There are pictures of both the Agmatic one and the new Doppelmayr one. I guess it's an option? However I'm gonna make a guess that in the next few years, the Doppelmayr grip will be used on all the lifts.

Well I think they will have that option of the type of grip the buyer would like to use. Each grip has there pros and cons. It's nice they are allowing the buyer to choose from two grips. I'm guessing the reason we don't see the AK 400 grip is because the Agamatic grip is better? I never followed this Italian lift company.
What would be really nice if Doppelmayr CTEC offered FREE cushion seats on their lifts. Every lift I see over in Europe has these nice comfy looking seats, and they are on all the lifts, just not some. Maybe Doppelmayr CTEC will offer this down the road. :)

The slatted plastic seats do get cold, it's pretty uncomfortable at Snowbird, which has 4 of the doubles with slatted seats. However, the similar Chickadee beginner lift there has cushions, and it seems to be about the same age as the other ones.

The terminal I was referring to was the one Zack posted. I thought that was the UNI-G but I could be wrong.
Mt Baker's new lift (C-4.5) is a good example of the new breed of DoppelmayrCTEC. The terminals, grips, and line machinery are vintage CTEC, while the carrier design is Doppelmayr. When we were doing the preliminary bid work, Zop mentioned several times that he'd rather have the Doppelmayr carrier because the bail swept down from behind, rather than attaching to the seat on the side as is traditional. That makes the chair easier on the lifties, who can assist passengers easier.
I agree that the company will continue to make fixed-grip lifts after the CTEC design, while the detachables will follow the Doppelmayr. Which is too bad, as the Stealth is a good-looking terminal. I think the older CTEC grip isn't the best, but the guys who work on them say they actually aren't bad. Any thoughts on that, James?

Yea the picture that Zack posted is the UNI-G. And the UNI-G seems like it has a really nice working enviroment inside. A lot of big windows, however the UNI-GS's big windwos in the front have been replaced with sheet metal and smaller windows which make the lift like

I believe the carriers on the new Mt. Baker quad are Garaventa's rather than Doppelmayr. I like the Garaventa chair design better than CTEC's, although CTEC never put the standard backrest pad on the chair, so it looks kind of funky.

I agree that the Stealth is nice looking terminal. My fav terminals to work in are the Stealth 2's???? Silver Lake Express, Empire Express era. The AK 4.0 and 4.1 are the older CTEC style grips, and I personally would rather work on the AK400. Keep in mind I am new to lift maint at DV.. only one other guy on our team likes them. The AK4.0 and 4.1 aren't bad at all though.
