Hey i`ve seen video clips and pictures of people skiing downhill at the resorts using a conveyorbelt type ski thing, that clips onto your ski boot. Looks really neat. My question is what is it called officially as i want to try to get some. And how difficult is it compared to normal skis?

sorry i don`t have any pictures.

You must be talking about grass skis. I saw them in a Warren Miller flick once. I have no idea if you can even buy them anymore.

I remember them as being called 'grass skis' as well. One summer, maybe 20 years ago, the Edmonton Ski Club cranked up their then new t-bar and offered this as a summer attraction and I tried them for an afternoon. To be blunt, it wasn't the most exhilitaring experience. Being light on your edges was important, skate stops were well nigh impossible and crap (grass, dirt) would get caught in the tracks, making for less than a smooth and consistent ride down. Heavy gloves, elbow and knee pads were an asset! I am not surprised they didn't catch on.
