Whatever his other design flaws, Yan did overbuild his towers. Winter Park also built a detach on Yan fixed triple towers, and I wouldn't be surprised if others have as well. When we rebuilt C-2 at Baker into a fixed quad, we used the old fixed double (Riblet) tubes. It all depends on the original engineer's ideas of what a safety margin ought to be.

The Sunrise Express at Mt. Bachelor uses Yan towers.

I was in Banff last year and I never saw the gondola, where is it?

On Sulphur Mountain. You have to take the road up to the hot springs and pool. The base terminal is directly below the hot springs parking lot.

The Gondola is REALLY hard to spot from anywhere in Banff. Unless you know where it is it does a good job of bledning in to the side of the mountain.
