1. What make is the Alpine T-Bar?
2. Where did the Falcon chair come from? (I don't think it was all new)
3. What years did the Cliff platter exist?

Alpine T is a Doppelmayr CK800D
Falcon was the old Ridge chair, removed in 1989 rebuilt in 1992 as the Falcon
Platter built in 1988,removed in 1998( I think)

The avalanche was a result of control work, it was a path we had never seen before. The slide went straight down, went right 45 degrees then straight down again about 150 metres right of the original slide path.

The west t was a bunny lift that started about 200 metres west of the ridge chair bottom station and was about 250 metres long. It had one run called rookie. It was later called the freeloader as no ticket was required. A bar located in a double wide trailer paid the bill for operation. Back then to sell liquor on sundays, you had to have a recreational licence. I guess if you ran a t bar you could get a licence.
It only had one operator, so if the safety gate went out the operator had to hike to the top. Guess where we sent lifties who pissed the mechanics off ? One of them got even though. After hiking to the top and plugging in the safety gate, said operator had to have a leak, there's a good spot...behind the counterweight !! For some reason the lift would not restart, so I was dispatched. It seemed that while urinating on the lower limit switch he had stepped on the wire rain loop and pulled the wire out of the switch. As a lowly apprentice I was lucky enough to get to rewire the switch. True justice I suppose............

The chair 7 runs were open; the chair 8 runs were flagged (they're shown on the map but weren't actually cut in '90) and the liftline had been cut for chair 8. 8 came two years later, and the White Salmon lodge was finally built in '96. The lower shop, where lift maintenance is located now, served as a small snack bar and ticket office for six years.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.
"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"

I've never seen a photo, but it was installed in 1935 and was a surface lift. There must be photo's out in the world somewhere....... It was destroyed by avalanche in 1936 along with its inventor while he was running the lift, or working on it.
