I think Sage is saying that the gondola cabins have already arrived from CWA and that the rest are in the Buttermilk parking lot. But took a picture of the cabin to show what they look like.

Almost every ski area I've been to have a model setup to show the new cabin. Did you see a VIP cabin Sage?

The cabins I saw at the buttermilk parking lot are indeed for the cabins for the silver queen. They need to be on site alot earlier because as soon as the season is over, Aspen lift mechanics need to do the retrofits to the gondola so that it can be open for summer operation in july. Besides, the local TV station said that the cabins in the parking lot are the ones for the silver queen. I did not see any VIP cabins.

If anyone wants to ride the old ones again, They have one week to do so.

In my first post, The cabins show that there are two colors. And in the second pic, we see the model that cameron was talking about. it was open to go into. Both were taken near the top of ajax.

It was. JJ, did you notice the large pile of new cabins in the summer maintenance parking lot, below and behind the top terminal on the rail park side? Looks like they've brought up about half of them already.

Today (at the time I am replying tom this) is aspen mountains last day of operation. So changes will happen tomorrow. There is also some terminal modifications planned but I am not sure what. On colorado ski history it say a new drive system but I would think on top of that they will upgrade the cadence chains to tire banks.

the terminal will need to get new concrete floors and curbs to accomidate the larger cabins plus some conveyor upgrades like pto set ups to ditch numerous drive shafts and small gear boxes.

I'm not sure if the terminals will need to get new concrete curbs since the lift manufacturers have switched to side rails to prevent the cabin from swinging when it enters. However, maybe these rails won't work this this gondola. Concrete curbs are very expensive from what I hear, but maybe these new CWA cabins can use the old ones if needed.

It has to do with hight. The old cabins are about 18"-20" shorter plus the new cabins are ADA compliant so the curb is simply so the floor maches up to the cabin floor with a small gap <1in. BTW Aspen was running the gondola today, I gess for matinance they, they have not removed the cabins from line yet.

that is weird how it looks with no cable. They also appear to have taken down the comm line.

was talking to the poma crew a few weeks a go the cable is down so they can, (A) istall a fiction sheeve pto setup for the new conveyor eqipment and add tyre banks on the contor, (B) the whole bottom terminal is getting jacked up about 18"-20" to accomidate the new cabins. The top terminal is getting new floors and conveyors equipment too

As nice as the new ones are, the old cabins will be missed. They were icons.
