The one at Magic is a Pohlig drive installed in 1961. They do look similar but I do not think they are the same.

do you think it might be a PHB then? The midwest ski areas do lift combinations a lot.

Well, after my trip, I have some questions. The Bull Chair has an odd drive. It kind of looks like a Borvig bull wheel. I was wondering if anyone knows about this?

Bull Chair:

A Borvig at Wild Mountain:

What you are seeing is two lifts that more than likely used to be only one lift. Obviously caribou got the original terminals and bull got the replacement terminals. Based on what can be seen, the drive on bull appears to be doppelmayr as there was a time when dopp used snowflake bullwheels. Also the fact the the idler sheaves have a piece of metal encompassing the sheave leads me to believe this way because that was something doppelmayr did until the merger with CTEC. I can't be sure though because dopp lifts from the era that the terminal appears to be from are essentially non existent in North America. Therefore there are no lifts to reference.

I wish there was some record of that lift. I guess the Doppelmayr theory is pretty likely.

The Bull Chair was always a mystery for me, its been 12 years since ive been there. It opened in '81 or 2. The moose mtn chair, (used, installed in '86) im not sure of the current name, I always thought was a Yan., I remember in an old Pioneer Press/Tribune that it came from Vail. I think the crossarms were square with circle access covers bolted on the vertical sides??? anyone

I think the Moose Mountain chair, as you called it, is now Caribou Chair.

Was the Bull chair installed new or used?
