I just hope that they run it like tellurides for transportation since theres the new and large base development going in. Finding parking during this time of the year is insane. It would be nice to ride it down into town at night to eat or even shop. I spent 30 min trying to get a space to check my mail box today.

ok, so the next obvious question: who is building this? Leitner-Poma or Doppelmayr CTEC...any lift industry people know???

wow, its going to be a big year for leitner-poma in Colorado then
. A gondola at both snowmass and breck!

From what I know and have heard, it will be a Leitner-poma. They are calling it one of the most modern Gondolas in North America. The gear goes inside the cabin!!!!!
I always worry about my skis falling out but they never do.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is that the same design utilized by Big White?

It could use the Conus cabins by CWA which are used on the Village Gondola at Mammoth.

I dont know if the decision has been made between 8 and 12 pax cabins as there was some debate over which it will be. Also I haven't seen any decision on what cabin they will use but they used a picture of Vail's gondola for the article in the Summit Daily.

Leitner-Poma has the Breck gondola, Snowmass gondola, Stowe gondola, a 6pack and 2 hsq's for 2006 so far. DoppelmayrCTEC has 24 lifts, mostly hsq's and fg quads. Although L-P has way fewer installations, they are all of the big ones.

They are also at resorts that have mostly L-P lifts. Also how do you define big (capacity or price)?
Peter

Big as in a six pack and all three of the gondolas, which all have high capacity and price. D-CTEC has a lot more fixed grip lifts and hsq's

I ride the River Run Gondi a lot of the time that I am in Breck. I can't say that I actualy ever saw any gear fall out!

From what I have read and heard is that it will be an 8 passenger gondola. There was a news paper article in the newspaper in Breck not too long ago. The picture of the gondola cabin it had was 100% incorrect. For starters, the cabin had the gear outside on the door. Secondly, the grip was a Doppelmayr.

Just remember resorts commit to lifts as late as they can, and send projects out to bid late too, so these numbers can change by the end of April we will have a better idea what is a go.

Later this week some bigwigs from Breck are going to Grand Junction to check out cabin styles: CWA and I'm not sure of the other one. The Gondola will have four terminals, one at the Transfer Station in Breck, one at Shock Hill, one at Peak 7, and one at Peak 8. They've already started clearing for the new Peak 7 Base Area. I've heard rumors too about placing the bottom terminals of the Independence, Colorado, and Rocky Mt. chairs on the same grade.
