It appears that the Lehman Platter lift is not on the trail map. Although it is still standing, I question why they removed it from the map and why they haven't used for quite a while? Does it have mechanical issues? Was there an accident on it? Are there other reasons? I have been by it in the summer while using the forest trail and burrow trails. I have looked inside the control shack near the bottom. All of the equipment appears to be unharmed. The control power key is in its place and the control pedistal appears to be all functional. The control shack could be rebuilt. The shack's door doesn't shut all of the way. (The lock has to hold it in place.)

Why isn't the Lehman Platter Lift at Breckenridge used???

It could be just an extra ski school lift that get's used only on really super busy days.

I haven't seen it run in a long time, so I don't know if they even run it now. I havent been by it this winter so I'm not sure if the area arround it is being maintained for use this year.

well, the platters aren't attached to the lift. They are sitting in the control shack all in a pile. (This lift is fixed grip.)

Well a run (lower lehman) goes right next to it. The area pretty close to it is groomed and everything. The lift does have some little trees in the snow around it though.

lehman is a very flat and not desireable run to ski so it normaly isnt skied by many people when it is open and usualy is very hit or miss as to wether it is open.

Quite possibly Breck doesn't need the lift at this time. We also have a fixed platter that runs very little. We did put sticks on it this fall and it has run a few days, but I think the last time was the week of Christmas. Perhaps Breck doesn't need it at all. I've noticed the last few years that areas are moving towards more carpets and less platters as they are easier on the general public.

Even when it was new it never ran much, I could see the Camelback Platter being replaced with a carpet but It would not suprise me if they just removed the Lehman Platter.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. I believe that it isn't licensed this year because the cost isn't worth running the lift. Breckenridge uses carpets for their ski school instead of these platters (which require more maint). There is no mechanical problem or anyting like that. It could be started tomorrow if breckenridge wanted (couldn't load public, though because of no license). It is in what has been called "standing storage"
