It seems that Mountain Creek Resort has been having a lot of vandalism issues with people riding a chairlift that passes over the Deer Lodge parking lot at the ski area. Some riders have been hiding rocks in their pockets and throwing them at parked cars when they pass over the lot. Most cases include broken windows and dents in vehicles. However, Mountain Creek hasn't done anything about the problem and residents are getting fed up with it. Luckily, there have been talks to set up surveillance equipment on one of the lift towers to spot the rock throwers.

Do other resorts have this same issue? The only lift that I know that passes over a parkign lot Cabriolet at The Canyons.

Lift #5 at Loveland Basin passes through the parking lot and crosses US 6. I don't think it is used anymore due to maintenance issues but I'm not sure if they ever had problems like objects being thrown down on vehicles.

The Cabriolet doesn't pass over a parking lot, it goes from the corner of the parking lot to the lodge, passing over the road to the base. I guess it's hard to hit a moving car while standing in a wobbly gondola cabin. I never thought of people doing that, although if they wanted to, there's plenty of rocks at both terminals

I guess your right that it doesn't directly cross over the parking lot, but it does pass near it. In the article it mentions that cars as far away as seven spots where it, so someone could throw a rock from the cabriolet and hit a car in the parking lot cloest to the resort. Not to mention other parked cars at the nearby condos.

Really, it's not the resort's fault if a few brats use the gondola's aerial perspective to throw a few rocks. Please note I'm not defending them- they are brats- but it's not up to the resorts to police each and every happening that goes on there. There isn't any way to stop vandalism from happening, and I think the idea of placing a few cameras is about the only method that might work.
