The photo looks like Yan's "anti-gravity" device - first used at Mammoth to restrain a snow cat on steep terrain. It was adopted later by cat manufacturers who called it a "winch cat." Shameless theft of wisdom - great outcome.

I would hate to have to be the lift maintenance crew who has to do line work on that!
