I just stumbled across this, sorta intresting, they had a ammunition bunker in Kamloops during the cold war and so they used a tram to get the ammo up to it.

Quote

Due to concern of the residents who feared an accidental explosion, an aerial tramway was built. This aerial tramway was a one-mile long endless 1 1/4” cable , supported by 11 towers spaced approximately 130 yards apart and varied in height from 25 to 40 feet to accommodate the varying land formations. The tram was capable of transporting 1 to 2 tons of explosives per platform. However, strong winds caused the platforms to swing uncontrollably forcing its abandonment. It was possibly used 12 times, at a cost of $600,000. The Navy then reverted to the previous method of unloading and transporting all ammunitions. The upper end of the skeletal remains of the tram still exists (photo #3)

Wow its been awhile since I had heard something about BC that I never knew about. That is pretty cool.
Did you know that the first "broken Arrow" (lost nuclear bomb) was in the Coast mountains near the Skeena and geograpghy wise not far from the now site of Shames Mountain?

There is another Gondola, which probably belongs to the forestry service and is used to access a fire tower, near the Coquihalla summit.

There were a few along the Coq...Unfortunately the last one and by far the best and biggest ticket ride on the west coast was recently de-commisioned. There is a few odd balls still around in working order. BC Tel had one in Revelstoke that could carry a Tucker. I always wanted to get up there in the Tucker.
Nice to meet someone with an affliction for BC's yesterday!!
