We had to delay opening too, it was +10 C and sunny up in the alpine today, and it's been foggy down here for almost a week.

Zack, looks like you guys are making up for last year. Same with Washington as well, only in the opposite sense.
The storm Lift Dinosaur mentioned a few posts back allowed us to open much more terrain earlier than we had planned. Timberline Express opened a week earlier than scheduled, Resolution is already open and B-lift opens tomorrow almost two weeks before it was scheduled. R-lift opens Friday, and that means around about two-thirds of the hill is up and running before December
No snow since the big dump, but temps have been very low. Allan, we haven't seen +10 C for over a month! Sorry...

I cant remember having 9ft drifts because of having to use a front loader to clear the end of the driveway this early in a long time. I think its been almost a decade since Breck opened peak 8 before Thanksgiving.

Here's a video of Mt. Bachelor on opening day (Back in November). This appears to be filmed off the Northwest Express, which hasn't opened until today, so these are most likely employees. Just take a look at all that nice dry powder.

Snow (or lack thereof)
The weather channel says:
Right Now for
Park City, UT (84060)
Rain
35°F
-----
This was at 6 am, it's only gonna get hotter
How bad does one day of rain mess up the snow? It's never rained while I've been skiing before

It gets sticky and it's not very to ski in the rain since you tend to get very wet if your not wearing the proper gear. I basically just give up if it doesn't stop within a certain amount of time. However, if the lift has bubbles, it's not as bad since your protected. I ran into that at Whistler when I was there when I made a run down to the base. Boy I got out of that area quick.

It's pissing down rain here... at the base - up top it's snowing though!

That sucks Allan. I was at Sun Peaks today and it was snowing but really wet snow. My dad and I decided to stop skiing at 2 PM and just after we quit and were walking back to the car, it started to rain but stopped a few minutes later. I just hope it doesn't rain tomorrow while I'm up there. I still need to get more lift pictures!
A few of the ski areas in Oregon have just closed which is too bad because this is one of the most profitable times in the season. I just hope this doesn't turn into a disaster like last season.

Ive got a fair amount of pics of Sun Peaks lifts (accesible from base) if you end up not getting enough of certain areas.

Thanks, I have taken quite a few of the base lifts except for Morrisey Express. I got a few of the Crystal chair but it was a white out all up top. I guess the only other lift I need to get is the Brufield quad.
One thing you might not know about Sun Peaks is that there is actually a backside which all the lifts have been removed. My dad skied there in the early 1960s, the second year it was open and he was telling me how their were a few surface lifts on the backside.

Yea, but it's closed. I'm not sure why but I presume the lack of snow or visibility since it's a whiteout up there. I couldn't even see where I was going today when I got off the Crystal chair.
