Kinda a goofy looking smile on my face but this is me with the about 60" 70 pound ling cod that I caught off the coast of Prince of Wales island about 3 hours out from Ketchikan last Sunday.

Unfortunately for Lingcod in Alaska you have to throw back any that are smaller than 30" or larger than 40". That one was more like 60" so I had to throw it back. But Lingcod is really good meat.

Some pics from this morning... It's that time of the year again, I can get pics of the sunrise from the top of Granite. We just finished hanging the assemblies (uphill side top 5 towers, and tower 1 both sides) on Monday, finished hanging carriers this morning.

Check out the old-school photo from Baker. If you look close in the background you can see a guy being pulled up the hill on the rope tow. Great photo!

Well I know that they aren't ski lifts, but they're still cool none the less.

This is the Flume Gorge in North Lincoln, NH. I took a friend here from Mass who had never been to it. The walls of the gorge are about 80' high and the gorge is about 1000' long. The walkway that goes through the gorge is taken out every fall because the ice created by the creek and any water that comes down over the sides freezes and destroys about everything in it's path.
Chairlift n. A transportation system found at most ski areas in which a series of chairs suspended from a cable rapidly conveys anywhere from one to eight skiers from the front of one line to the back of another.

Haha, SkiBachelor already pointed that out.

btw, there was an article in the Seattle Times on Sunday about new lifts in the West. They said Dreamcatcher at The Canyons would be a high speed quad, and Imperial Express was new for this year, among other errors too.

First photo is a shot from inside the new tunnel at Snowbird. It's not that long, but a cool experience abd there is also a small cafe inside that you can buy expensiver snacks from.

The second photo I find pretty funny since it's the steepest green run that I have ever seen and it was a sheet of ice.

Heres some more pictures from Alaska that I finaly got off my camera.

One of my favorite views from Prince of Wales island. This is about 25 miles from the nearest sign of human development other than roads and over 50 miles from the nearest paved or two lane road.

The last chance gas station in Whale Pass, a town of 52, the nearest gas from here is 33 miles behind you and its another 10 beyond that to get to paved roads.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

An example of a maintained road on Prince of Wales Island. By the way that is narrower than a toyota tacoma.

Another issue of the deadliest catch pictures.
Heres the Aleutian Ballad in port in Ketchikan, it has now been retired and is opeating as a tour vessel out of ketchikan. The Sea Star was also here as a crab boat tour in port. The Cornelia Marie and Northwestern have been here as well. I also got a chance to breifly meet Cornelia Marie captain Phil Harris and Sea Star captain Larry Hendricks at the bar a week or so ago. Sig Hansen of the Northwestern was rumored to be in town at the time too.
