I had the same question... There's a reason it's called the 'wheel of pain', right?

Well if you are referring to the magic of maintenance then yeah, thats where the magic begins... and ends... and the pain begins... and where the band-aids come into play.

We have racks full of YAN sheaves like that too... well did, they're in an old bus now. We don't have a wheel of pain, our supervisor went to Whistler to reline a bunch for us. However, removing them also sucks haha!! We also have a VKIII just like yours, she's not used much anymore, but still starts every time!!

How many lifts do you guys have with Cadillac assemblies? We had three but they went away to buy beer for the guys who replaced them with Doppelmayr assemblies. The only lift I've seen in Colorado with the S4 assemblies is chair 2 at Loveland, which also has those strange Type 6 grips.

Those are pretty neat looking assemblies! So does the larger sheave flange on the inside act as the deropement guard?

yeah i guess thats the idea...

these have the yan magnet proxy switch you have to reset with your index finger

funny story though... actually it was on this tower... there are different dia
flanges so during linework we installed rebuilt sheave here (large) come to find we used wrong flange...
flange locked (jammed) in fore section... had to replace again then went back to shop and removed all of these larger no longer used flanges.... live and learn...
