Hi guys, i am currently looking for stuff about the history of Apex Mtn, i saw an old map on ebay for sale so i will buy it and scan it so we can see how much it has changed. A couple things i know currently, the mountain across from the upper parking lot used to have a lift and ski runs, and there was a lift from the base to the upper parking lot. if you guys know more, post here. I went to Apex in 2000 ish but at that time i wasnt studying lifts like i do now, otherwise i would have known more. earlier.

I read somewhere that the upper parking lot was actually the original base of the ski area, and that the Gunbarrel Saloon (is it still there?) was the original daylodge. This probably explains the lifts and now abandoned runs on the other mountain. As the resort grew and was developed the base was moved to its current location - my guess would be in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Sorry if I can't be more specific.

Looks like this idea is dead, the bidder cancelled the sale. Hopefully i will get up there this winter and then i should be able to get some info.
