They call it the Skyline Express even though its a fixed grip chair. Funky towers and chairs...

Somebody please help me... (I think my dad's gone crazy...) :)

Looks like a true borvig pre-partek. Any idea what year it was built?

Stumbled across it while putting together info for my site. I plan on taking a trip down there this summer to snap pictures. I was under the impression that no Borvigs were in Washington, but I think we proved that wrong. :)

Why you didn't posted it in the other topic, instead of creating a new one  ?

I've always wondered what breed of lift that was. Until I left WA, I'd never seen a Borvig, and had no idea what they looked like. Apparently I had seen one, and just didn't recognise it... :withstupid:

All,
Its the Skyline Express in Dayton Washington.
I am not a lift expert, but I am pretty sure its a Leitner made in the early seventies.

Its funny I run into this picture, I know the guy in the picture, and I know the guy that took the picture.
The guy in the photo is the head of rental for Bluewood, and the photographer is the Mountain manager. Contact me for full exact names.
I worked at bluewood for several of my highschool and college years, everything from parking cars to running that lift.

Did you know the lift is diesel powered? Its main power source is a CAT 3408, it has a clutch, then a fluid cupler, then a sprocket, and finally into the Leinter gear that spins the bow wheel. Its my favorite lift, to start it up you have to pull the clutch to put it "In Gear", then crank up the throttle. It slowly speeds up, you apply more throttle until you get the cat at 1800 RPM (Tachomter is in front of the operator).
Its a one of a kind lift.

Another little factoid, did you know Ski Bluewood is entirely self powered? No, there are no power lines that run to the resort, everything is diesel powered.

Sorry for the babbling, I could go on and on about the resort.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best at answering them.

It is indeed a Borvig triple, pre-Partek installed at Skyline Ski Area in 1980. The name was changed to Ski Bluewood in 1981. They also have another Borvig triple, The Triple Nickel, installed in 1987.
The pre-Partek Borvigs used Leitner line equipment, grips, and some gearboxes that were purchased directly from Leitner.

That would make sense. I do remember it saying "Leitner" on the gear box. So naturally I thought it was a leitner.
Thanks for the education.

Mt Baker up in the northwest corner of the state is also self-contained. I wasn't aware that Bluewood was. Thanks for the info.
