Is it just Utah or is it the same all over, that is I mean or so it seems that every where I go in this state within this buisness all departments have a certain stigma. The one reocurring statement is " Those ___ing! guys dont do anything" in reference to lift mechanics. What about Colorado,or California and Nevada, what do other people think?

I used to work at Copper Mountain, CO where we had 2 crews - Sunday thru Wednesday and Wednesday thru Saturday. We talked about having T-Shirts made for both crews that said "The other Crew doesn't do SHIT!" The fact that Wed. was the overlap day gave a common day. As one crew left on Saturday, the crew that came in on Sunday saw all that was "left to be picked up". Conversely, the W-S crew got to pick up on Thursday.
As for other departments in the company, I always told people that lift mechanics are like Firemen, they have daily, weekly, monthly, and annual responibilities but their main job is to respond to breakdowns during the operating season. As any lift mechanic will tell you, the summers are much busier than the winters - that's when we REALLY get our work done.

You know what- the other crew really doesn't do shit. I think I can say that because I've worked on both crews...
Seriously- do you mean that other departments such as vehicle maintenance think lift monkeys don't do anything?

Lift Dinosaur and I were referring to how Copper's lift maintenance crew is split into two parts- not to Copper's lift and vehicle crews.
Our vehicle guys know we put in the hours, and we don't envy them their workload either. They've got a fleet of aging busses that they have to keep on the road. I think they do a good job of it.
