Here is a cool addition that you will all like, A LIGHTING SYSTEM  . I have no bulbs yet but I will get them ASAP. Here are the pics, some of them have pink circles and arrows to help you spot them.

Hmmm, it is the way I have always spelled that word, and spell check never noticed it was wrong, oh well. Here are some pics of were the grip is positioned.

This pic shows the grip ready to open on the exit side, the red arrow points to the blue rod that goes up to allow the grip to open.

These pics show the grip going over a sheave. The grip does not really touch the sheave, the grip pulls the rope up and as the cabin moves on the rope is let back on to the sheave.

Ok, here is the answer to that question everyone has been asking, How does your detachable grip work? well here is the answer. My grip is a paper holder glued to the wheel carriage and a rod glued to one of the tabs.

Here are pics of the wheel carriage:

Here are views of the jaws, closed to open:

Upon exit or entry the blue rod will go up a ramp and open the grip and when the rod goes down the ramp, the grip closes.

The ramp:

Rod lined up to ramp and grip ready to open:

For this picture, the arrows should tell you what's going on:

Does the cabin have enough mass/momentum/force to open the clip?

I made the the clip more loose so it can open easier and the ramp has been moved down the track more so the cabin can get enough momentum.

Have you got this model complete enough to get it to work? If so then post a movie of it in action.

Ok, 50% of my lift is re-installed and I have re-designed simple stuff like my tower foundation and terminal structure. As soon as it is up and running I will get a few video clips to show it in action, such as detachable grip, cabins on the line, haul rope ect...

Did you ever get your 3S back up after your basement flooded?

Yea I have, I just haven't gotten around to taking any more pictures. I will upload new pictures and video clips either Saturday, Sunday or Monday. During reinstallation I had to re-design my tower foundation, re-solder the lighting wires (still no bulbs  ) and I have made a few other changes. A lot of work had to be done because it was dismantelled in quite a hurry.

OK, after my basement flooded I went back to the drawing board and came up with some new ideas such as lowering the tension station so the drive station is at the top so it can pull the cabins up(much like a real lift) I also created a bigger bullwheel and now I have 2 hi-torque motors to drive the lift. Both motors turn the bullwheel at 19 rpm. Plus I created a new more sturdy tower foundation. And without further interruptions, here are the pictures and video clips.

Since this topic has hidden behind the walls a bit since the model is complete, I thought I'd show you pictures of my lighting system.
