Welcome to the topic about my model 3S ropeway, I just started today with the terminals and will continue adding other components. Here is the drive terminal (just to note the tension terminal is the exact same as the drive station, only without the motor). The terminal is not fully loaded, it is missing the accelerator/decelerator tiers, cadence chain, extra support beams, detachable mechanism ect... it is just to show you the basic construction. As the days go on, more components will be added.

Here is my fully loaded drive terminal. Just some info about the terminal, the accelerator tier bank is longer and goes faster that the decelerator tier bank to give the cabin plenty of time to properly attach and get up to line speed faster. Both tier banks are fully height adjustable. The cadence chain goes in a funny pattern because once again, the accelerator tiers start earlier.

Just to add, my model will be like the 3S system they have at Kitzbhule the way it goes down, then back up. Here is a video clip of the tier banks in action.

Hahaha that is awesome! It's funny to see all the gears going so fast.

I'm following the geartrain, but the way you have it set up, it doesn't look like there is a different ratio between each tire, is that right?

(as in, all the tires rotate at the same speed)

That's right Duck, the accelerator tier bank have smaller gears and the decelerator tier bank have big gears, so the drive motor has a big gear and it drives the first accelerator shaft witch has a small gear and that will rotate faster than the drive shaft(basic science I'm teaching here  ) so the cycle is increase speed decrease speed. In the picture, the orange arrows are the accelerator tier bank and the blue arrows are the decelerator tier bank.

Unfortunatley, though, with your setup, while the acceleration tires are moving at a different speed than all your deceleration tires, all the tires on each "side" are going the same speed. You have to have a step-up or step-down per tire, to get each tire to rotate at a slightly different speed than the tire next to it. Check out how how it's usually done:

http://www.funivie.o...zbuhel_3s/3.htm

You can see how each tire has two pulleys on it. One is a different diameter - the ratio between each subsequent tire causes each one to rotate slightly faster (or slower).

My system works well, so I'm going to keep it that way. I performed a test to see if the tiers could accelerate the test cabin, now the test cabin weighs more then the actual cabin I will be using, but the tiers accelerated it with ease.

How's this project going? It looks great from all the pics so far, and I'm anxious to see it progress.

Well here you go, these are the completed terminals. I will show you pics of the drive station first. The cool thing is that with my motor setup is that there is the main control box, 2 motors and it is all remote control. I could be 20 ft away and make the lift operate. Both terminals are missing the cadence because I'm lubbing them.

There were some complications with the haul rope, apparently it was to big and bulky and could not be deflected very well. So I'm going to buy a smaller haul rope.
