Smuggler's Notch-for the countless woods skiing and the steeps!
Mad River Glen-for the steeps, woods, old time atmosphere, and un-crowded and un-groomed trails
Sugarbush-for Castlerock and the woods skiing!
Sugarloaf-the only time i've been there it took us 5 more hours than it should have because of the massive storm we got that night, so we were treated to LOTS of fresh snow in the morning.. it left quite an impression on me!
I may add Breckenridge to that list as well.. we'll see after my trip in December!

Want something to remember head to Hokkaido!!! I recommend Iwanai its tiny with tons of snow and terrain and the town is small which you would not associate with J-Pan
Fav in NZ would be Broken River...any of the club fields you'd be in for some near death lift experiences (and you give them money for this)
And my all time fav small hill with a big experience. Shames Mt
Well?
A.R.M out
Ps US has the parks etc etc ie Mammoth.... But places like Baker and Bridger....priceless. When we invade the US with our snowshoe army and dogsleds we will let you keep Mammoth. Mad River, Copper, Definately Aspen (except we're taking Pamela back).
Silverton-we're keeping
Monarch- yours
Jackson- ours
Alta- yours
Stevens- ours
Sugarloaf-yours
The yellow stone club-we keep don't ask....We will give you back Warren...Nancy will do nicely
Sorry Benbo our sled dogs won't make it to New mexico let alone down under to wollonggong o' gong. (your ski area are safe)

1. Fortress Mountain - while smaller then the "Big Three" of Banff / Lake Louise, they usually have the best snow conditions, shorter lift lines. Usually I have been able to get a lot more skiing in at Fortress then anywhere else. Also some great, easily accessible backcountry.
2. Lake Louise - even though many have critisized RCR's management of the place, and they've had maintenance issues with lifts from time to time, they still have some of the longest runs round - especially down the backside.

1) Steamboat (no crowds, good snow, friendly)
2) Mt Baker (no crowds, ungodly snow, friendly)
3)Nordic Mt, Wi (my home hill)(no crowds, no snow, snowmaking, friendly)
and
4) Squaw Valley (some people, good bowls, good spring, good snow, good lifts)
These are IN NO CERTAIN ORDER!!!

Badger Pass (duh, I work there!
Dodge Ridge (nice to visit my old stomping grounds; although their ramps looked like crap and I only knew one lifty from when I worked there last year)
Kirkwood (great lifts, long runs, awesome snow, varying terrain)
I've only been to those three

I remember going there sure its cheap but you spend more time on the lifts and I tend to like longer and more challenging trails but would be a fun place if it was local I guess. They have like 98 dollar season passes in the summer too.
Colorado:
Winter Park
Vail
Wisconsin:
Devil's Head Resort
Whitecap
Michigan:
Indianhead
Big Powderhorn

JH, of course. I've had the pleasure of skiing there, off and on, since the first season the Tram was operational.
Here's my March 6th, 1967 Lift Ticket.

Of course, having worked there for 25 years has absolutely nothing to do with my opinions.....
