When were the first of each lift type installed in the us and/or world:

Single: ?
Double: ?
Triple: ? (around 1975?)
Quad: ? (around 1980?) (The meadows quad at boyne mt. MI)
HSQ: ? (around 1984?)
HSS: ? (around 1990?) (first in US in 1992 at boyne mt MI [mt. express])

"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"

First lift (Rope Tow) in US was at the White Cupboard Inn, Woodstock, VT: 1934
First Single Chair was at Sun Valley, Sun Valley, ID: 1936
First POMA lift in the US was built in 1951 (don't know where)
First T-Bar was built at Pico, VT: 1940
First Double Chair in the world was at Berthoud Pass Ski Area: 1947

That's all I have so far
Chairlift n. A transportation system found at most ski areas in which a series of chairs suspended from a cable rapidly conveys anywhere from one to eight skiers from the front of one line to the back of another.

Actually, Mt. Spokane was the first ski area to get a double, then fallowed by Berthoud Pass. However, I found a site a while back that listed Hoodoo installed the first double chair in the world. Riblet built both the lifts at Hoodoo and Mt. Spokane but maybe they wern't counted since Riblet was still in the mining business?

They were still counted. It's a bit murky for the first double, and I'm sure it's something like the first gondola in Colorado where there were two built in one year. One was finished first, but the other opened to the public first.
