yeah basically the restraint bar didnt go down, so the ride started going up the lift hill. Still had no restraint bar. I kept on trying to click it down. Finally like halfway up it worked. Its happened a bunch of other times too. I think what happened though is something got jammed and the computer or whatever thought it was in.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I had that happen to me on a rollercoaster at 6 Flags NE...It was the Flashback coaster. I felt it most when I was going backwards up the lift hill. My body was being pushed forward against the restraint, which was lifting. I am tall enough and big enough to brace myself with my feet and pull down hard on the restraint, thinking I could force it shut, but no...it didn't click in. I rode the entire ride tensed up and holding myself in, one hand holding firmly to my restraint, the other holding firmly on my neice's (which was done). When we got back to the station I let go of the restraint and it rose. The others were still locked in. Anyway, the did not allow others to ride in that seat, they marked it off.

Needless to say, I did not ride on any other coasters or rides that day.

This is neat...kind of.
Before the Cyclone at 6 Flags NE (then Riverside Park) opened, I was at the racetrack (that used to be there) with my brother. He sponsored a car. People from the park came down to the pit area and asked if there was anyone who wanted to ride the Cyclone for it's testing. My nephews, niece, brother-in-law and I went. This was when the Cyclone only had lap restraints. We got 5 or 6 rides on the Cyclone and VIP passes to the Park and to the front of the Cyclone line for the year.

Yes, but it is different than what was there originally, and also, after that man fell off and died a couple years after it opened, they changed the track and slowed it down. It had a different configuration at first, and the belts were like the old style lap belts of a car.

Any of you ever been to cedar point ohio? Last year they put in the top thrill dragster, which launches you 120 miles an hour, then you go straight up 400 something feet and come straight back down. They also have many other awesome coasters like the millenium force, the raptor, mantis, and a couple old wooden roller coasters.

Help with what? It's a crappy photo of an SLC. :)

I just got back from the Wisconsin Dells and SixFlags Great America. Lots of great rides, including one called Hades that a friend of mine designed, and I finally got to ride a KUKA Robocoaster (KUKA KR 500 robot + seats by Schwarzkopf). I work with robots by KUKA and other companies so it was a treat to finally get to check it out in person. I'd never been to Great America, either, despite being in Chicago several times over the last few years for work. So it was good to finally get there.

The highlight of the trip (well, besides the KUKA Robot!) was looking up in Deja Vu's station and seeing this...!

(Look closely at the sheave!)

The ride is built by Vekoma, but it's evident that a good chunk of the lift mechanics on that ride were likely outsourced to Doppelmayr. Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point has an array of sheaves that spin up to a 200 km/h rope speed (don't tell me Gondola's can't run faster than 6 m/s because of sheave wear when this thing does 55!), and Millennium Force' lift components were supplied by Garaventa.

Look Duck,

Idk what your problem is but I like the Coasters @ Six flags EG. And personally i hate the fastest / tallest / whatever coasters. And acturlly up until this year the flying coaster was one of a kind.

I just don't have any respect for the Zamperla Volare, at all. :)

I prefer rides that are smooth and enjoyable to those that I have to struggle to brace myself against injury on.

and have you been on the Six Flags EG Zamperla Volare? Once you learn how to ride that puppy it's a smooth baby.

Nope. We've got one at Canada's Wonderland, though. I have a friend who's done all 3 units in North America and says Elitches' is the smoothest, and Wonderland's is the worst of the three.

I was actually on TV (Canada AM) with their weather man to talk about the ride when it opened last year. It's hard to lie through your teeth. I surruptitiously kricked my neck on national television though to get my point across. ;)

Anyway, I've been on enough coasters (~200) that I don't need to ride junk like that for the sake of riding it. I'll spend my time on the machines I know I like.

you shouldn't have to 'learn' how to ride any roller coaster. fact of the matter is flying coaster kills your shoulders. six flags would be better off taking it apart and shipping it off to some other park and bring in an old portable schwartzkopf.

better yet, bulldoze the entire park, move it out of town where they're not landlocked, and actually invest in trees and shade.

I agree I hate that coaster. Mostly because theres no real excitement. I would much rather ride the kiddie coaster than the flying coaster. But I have heard that they have made improvements to it and its much smoother and runs at a better speed so its smoother and more fun. I will be going to SFEG when I get back to Colorado so I'll find out then.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"

U know what. The Halfpipe is 100 times ROUGHER then the Flying Coaster. And that is coming from other people.
