I was up at Squaw last weekend and checked out their new double built last summer. It is quite an interesting lift as it has a removable tower. The chairlift was built east of Far East Express on the Squaw Creek golf course so tower number two is removed in the summer to make way for a hole on the golf course. The lift is a bottom drive and is pretty short, 2 independent towers and one attached to both the upper and lower terminals. The lift has CTEC triple carriers for added comfort and saftey bars for the begginers. The lift adds to Squaw's lower mountain learning experience now with 5 handle tows, a carpet or two and the new double chair.

The first 5 show the lower terminal. I really like the glass paired with the white terminal.

The upper terminal is built to work into the hill so very little ground was actually moved. Its a fairly simple design as you can see, so nothing really very special.

The upper tower. As you can see the haul rope goes around the bullwheel then is draped over the hangers attached to the tower.

Now for the detachable tower. Its is pretty interesting design. It appears that a flange bolts together the part imbeded in the ground with one or 2 of the removable foundations parts. There are 6 pieces taken off in the spring as well as the tower and tower head. The removable parts are stored next to the Far East Express bottom terminal in the off season.
