Here is a response I received from Crystal Mountain regarding their expansion.

Quote

Hello Bill,

After the disastrous winter we had, we’ve had to put our plans on hold.  However, we are planning to do some clearing where the new Northway lift will go in (which should be the summer of 06).  It is really hard to say what will happen and when, it really all depends on the kind of winter we have.  Stay tuned...

Thanks,
Tiana Enger

That's kind of weird since Boyne has pretty deep pockets and a bad season probably wouldn't change their minds about installing a new lift or a tram since it would still make money during the off season.

I'm not sure how deep their pockets really are. They seem to operate on an individual basis; that is, if Big Sky has a great year the money will mostly stay there. BTW I wen't to school with Ms Enger. She seems to be on the way up at Crystal.

Back in 2002, Boyne announced a 500 million dollar expansion for all of its resorts. Basically, the 500 million would be slpit up between the resorts for improvements. With steel prices going up so quickly, I just thought Crystal would have wanted to install its lifts this year to save some money.

I thought they were going to call it the Morning Glory Express? A much more harmonious name, I think.

Morning Glory was an alternate site for the lift, so since the lift wasn't going near "Morning Glory" it reverted back to its original name and placement on the ROD.
