This site ( http://www.skiresort...da/whistler.htm ) says Crystal Chair will be replaced next year. Is this true?!?

I don't know where they got that information from. The existing Crystal chair will remain where it is. We just replaced all the electrical controls and DC drive on it. About 6 years ago we cut a lift line for the "new" Crystal chair. We just never got to building the lift. The top of the lift is near the existing top station and the bottom will be below the rescue road (Blackcomb Glacier skiout) between Ridge Runner and Rock 'n Roll. This years capital hasn't been finalised yet, so anything is possible, but extremely unlikely to be done this year. I'm pretty sure it will be built between now and the Olympics. The existing chair is only really busy when we have to close the high alpine due to weather or avalanche concerns. The new lift will help with that and take a lot of load off Excelerator as Crystal zone and Blackcomb Glacier traffic will be able to circulate on it instead of skiing all the way down to Excel.

The current Crystal lift isn't going to be removed, rather the new Crystal Express is going to start down at the base of the Excelerator Express.

So when are they putting it in? Would it run from Excelerator to the top of Crystal?

Was the current Crystal Chair lengthened/shortened at some time. In the Lift Installation survey it says the lift is 1477.975m long whereas in my previous records the length is 1062m.

The length is 1062 metres. I think the 1477m dimension may refer to the length it was when it was Jersey Cream chair. Crystal has been the same length its whole life.

Just to let you know, but all the stats for the lift installation survey are in feet and not meters!
I did two installation pages completely in meters and found it way too time consuming to convert everything into that. However, once I learn PHP, everything will be in both meters and feet since I can use math formulas to convert it on the page.

Yes I know it is in feet. I just use a program called Convert to change it to metres as i dont know how far something is in feet.

Cool, i was looking at some pictures on Webshots.
I found an aerial pic of the new Crystal Chair cut, i think. Seems like its in the right spot, its next to Ridge Runner.
