Aussierob, I have always noticed that not many people use Garbanzo frequently and I wondered if you think it was a bad choice to put a HSQ in when they could have used s lift of lower capacity.

Fitz only runs in the mornings to help take the load off the village gondola. It's main use now is the bike park in summer. Shhhh Don't tell people Garbo is quiet or they'll all go there. Given the length of most our lifts a detach is the only way to go, whether you need capacity or not. Guests don't like fixed grips much. A HSQ is pretty much our minimum standard. That is not to say another fixed grip will never be installed here. If anything we need to be looking at 6 packs.

Yes, Garbanzo can be very quiet, if there's a huge line at Big Red I just ski down to Garbanzo. How soon do you think an upgrade or replacement of the Village Gondola will be needed?

Now! - but the company seems happy to spend large amounts of money just to keep it running. I'm hoping there is some big picture financial reasons for this that make sense. I haven't seen them yet.

The reason why I don't like the skiing down to Garbanzo is because of how some runs go through the beginner area and I have to ski slow. I personally don't want to ride a lift if I have to deal with that every time and then I have to deal with the other stuff over buy Red if I come down the other way. I never skied the black runs though since I figured they were all moguls and I was with my friend who was a snowboarder. Also that area is pretty flat at the base, another not so fun reason.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.
"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"

Yes, your right. Im an intermediate so I dont go super fast on ice. Although I like going really fast! This is OT but Mt Seymours black runs are soooo easy, any intermediate could do them.

Have to agree on that one (insert speed-distorted 'yahoooooo' here).
As for some of the runs going through the Olympic area, one has to remember that the trail pod was originally served by the Black chair which began at the top of Oly. It wasn't until Garbo went in that the pod orientation changed.

the operative phrase here is "first thing". You need to hit it when it's first groomed and its lots of fun. Same can be said for most fast cruiser runs. Zig Zag, Rock 'n Roll, Ridge Runner, Franz's etc.
