I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with Mont Orford in Quebec, but it's going through some tough times right now and it might close down for good. This was started fairly recently after the ski area's owner was denied permission to start a real-estate development project on the mountain, which was the only way he would have been able to pay for the investments that he had already put into the mountain. I'm sure you guys all remember the chondola that was recently installed there.

It will be interesting to see if the the chondola will be removed and sold to another resort in the near future. However, this could just be some threat that the area owner is doing to get approval for the project.

Mont-Orford had money problems since many years. They tried to attract people by many ways, but each try failed. People preferred Bromont, which is nearer from Montreal, cheaper and with easier runs (Most Quebecers like easy runs :blinksmiley: ).

So Mont-Orford will finally close. I really like this mountain, but I can't do anything :( .

In fact they're not closing for good, but for "an undetermined time".

The chondola is quite the lift and since it's a brand new UNI-G unless there is a chance for the hill to re-open it would probably be a good idea to sell it. Besides the ski area could probably do with the money.
