"Witty" Lift?!

One problem, the QMC @ June was already operational. In my eyes, the QMC would be the mother of all funitels. However the QMC has four haulropes, whereas the Dopps all have a single rope. So, in the eyes of Dopplemayr, it might be a totally different type of lift.

The more I look at the photos on lift-world.info, I realise that yeah, that category was for oddball lifts.

(On an unrelated note, Flughafen Dresden looks gorgeous. I love utilitarian/inexpensive architecture that looks good and solid, or does a lot with few resources.)

This bullwheel is part of an evacuation ropeway that allows passengers to be evacuated from the gondola cars along the lift alignment instead of being being lowered to the ground as is the more conventional evacuation method. This is probably becuase there are portions of the liftline that may be undesirable to lower passengers down to - perhaps a glacial abyss or rock massive or some such topographical feature that makes lowering passengers to the ground impossible.
