Hello, here I am writing from Spain...

I'm an mechanical engineer working on aerospatial designs but without any experience in cable structures and skilifts. I would like to build-design a simple surface lift by my own. I've found your wonderful web page and I would like to ask you about any technical references, files or documents available about how to calculate the main structural elements.
From what I've read in the topics all of you normally talk about more complex and modern systems so maybe I'm in the wrong forum to ask this kind of information.

thank you and congratulations for your organization

 , hasta pronto

Pablo

Welcome Pablo :)
We all talk like we know complex systems, but really we know how they work and not how they're designed. I have several pamphlets on design load and such, but if you want information on calculating tower loads, bullwheel loads, tension, and such, you'd do well to contact a fellow engineer. What kind of lift are you looking to build- rope tow, handle tow, platter tow, et cetera?

Hi Liftmech and Ryan B,

i'm just reading your answers after a long period without internet access and so on.
I will read all the information available in the link you mentioned in your post and then probably I will have more questions about my project; I think it's going to be a nice thing if I get to build it

thank you both

Pablo B)
