Today at Mt. Bachelor the chair spacing system went crazy on the Northwest Express and the chairs started to pile themselves together in the terminal and haul rope! They eventually got the problem fixed but they had run the chairlift at like fixed grip speed so the chairs could distances themselves, but it was a sure was an ugly site to see. :help:

You can see that the chairs have already started to space themselves after going through the terminal.

Another shot before the chairs entered the terminal. The chairs are like neck to neck, I guess I mean needle to needle. :w00t:

That's a spacing problem if I've ever seen one!! It used to happen on our FG T-Bar! It was funny, two springboxes would be about 5 feet apart.

Maybe one of our old forum users, IBREAKFORTBARS had something to do with it. :)

Did you just take that grip off from the t-bar and replace with a better one?

It hasn't happened in years - since I was like 7. I think Doppelmayr sent out updated torque values for the grips... not too sure about that one!

When i was at sugar bowl last weekend, they were respacing the chairs on disney before they opened the lift. A few times the chairs almost crashed into easch other in the terminal. Its pretty cool because the chair in the back can just stop, the the one in the front can keep going untill the spcing is correct. THe lifty didnt know what was happening, so he tried to push the stopped chair, then He got yelled at by the lift mechanic. You would think they would teach them a little about the lifts

We do try to teach lifties more about the lifts, but we get some strange characters and they don't always listen :D vonsii can back me up on this, if he cares to post and not just read :---: I'm surprised they were loading those chairs- if you were on the front chair and stacked on the ramp, the second chair is only a few seconds behind you and might hit you.

I dont think they were loading them, as KZ puts it, it was before they opened the chair. That would be sure suicide if they were. ;)

A Lift Operator answers a tricky question.

Lift Inspector: How many brakes do you have on this lift and can you name them?
Lift Operator: Quickly said- "3, one in the morning, a big one at 12, and one in the afternoon".

Good one, and true. I'm referring to the picture Cameron took of the chairs on the Northwest Express, not the ones Zack is talking about.

Pioneer Express had a spacing problem Last Wednesday. Before they opened the lift.

Took all day I was there, I decided to stop skiing this area at like 1, and the chairs were slowly spacing themselves.

That would come in handy if you had a group bigger than 4 and wanted to maintain a conversation going up!

That's kinda odd how there is that hand grip in the middle of the chair (at least we don't have them here in Utah like that)

Anyway I guess that's one of the benifits of fixed grips is that little word

*Fixed*
