The Girak name has been dropped and it is now just known as Garaventa.

So other than gondis they really only built fixed grips? Or are there other lifts I haven't seen that are high speed?

Isn't it odd that "politics" is made up of the word "poli" meaning many, and "tics" meaning blood-sucking creatures?

I don't think Girak made surface lifts but I presume it made everything from fixed grip lifts to gondolas. It also made HSQs & HSSs, but there arn't too many of those around. However, the carriers that are used on Garaventa CTEC's HSSs are actually Giraks carrier design.

So the more modern carriers on HSS's by Garaventa after they dropped "Girak" and after the merger of Garaventa and CTEC, but before the Dopp merger, were Giraks former design?

No, Garaventa continued to use its own HSS carrier design, but Garaventa CTEC used Giraks HSS carrier design.

Garaventa is over in Europe
Garaventa CTEC was the North American branch.

Okay, that's making more sense.
