I made a brief stop at Snow Valley in Edmonton today. The ski hill's base is practically unerneath the main freeway in the city so it's pretty easy to get to. I wasn't skiing today so i didn't manage to get very many pictures.

The Triple Chair (Doppelmayr): This is probably one of the shortest chairs in existance. It's a mere 150m long and rises 35m with 24 chairs and 3 towers. The run to the right is the steepest run at the hill and if you take your time it takes 30 seconds to ski. The lines however make this hill hardly worth the time you spend skiing. Most lines average 5 mins which may be short at a mountain resort but in the city it feels like an eterinty.

The T-bar (Doppelmayr): Has similar stats to the triple chair but is 50m longer and runs 10m higher. About 80% of the hill's terrain is accesible off this lift mostly skiiers tend to use it to reach more interesting trails off to the left of the lift. The tension terminal is located at the top and uses a counterweight. It looks similar to the set-up on the hortsman at whistler. The lift terminates about 30 m from the 3rd tower at the top of the hill.

The two other lifts i didn't get pictures of are a Handle tow and a Magic carpet. Both lifts are pretty standard and really aren't all that interesting. Before the magic carpet was installed the handle tow was the beginner lift. This hill is surprisingly steep for a beginner hill but as i've found while teaching new skiiers a steeper hill has the advantage of allowing the skier to experience weight shifting easier.

There is night skiing at this hill and i hope to get a good shot from across the valley at night.

It's so small!! Good pics though! Those people in the houses have a ski hill in their front yard. Well at least one good thing is, you could groom the mountain with a rake in about an hour! hehehe :)

After some searching i managed to find an older trail map of Snowvalley. This Map was used at the hill in a large reincarnation until the new lodge was opened a few years back. The new lodge is average sized when compared to Mountain hills but compared to the hill it's absolutely huge. I should be by later in the week to snap a few night shots of the hill which offes 100% night skiing, a stat few hills can live up to. For reference sakes the only black diamond pitch on the hill as indicated on the map is rather mild. In comparison to mountain runs it rates an average blue.
