As an avid transit enthusiast in general, but espically trains, the development and "coming out" of Transrapid at Podung Airport in Shanghai has been espically exciting. Finally, the world has the first ever commercially operating magnetic suspension railway, or maglev. Achieving incredible speeds, at over 430 km/h the Shanghai Maglev Transport, or SMT, travels 31 kilometres in 7 minutes, between the new Podung Airport and the Long Yang Road metro station.
ThyssenKrupp and Transrapid International have presented an incredible array of high quality videos showing off this absolutely amazing project. Here are some links of interest.

(I strongly recomend The Transrapid Story and Hightech for "Flying on the Ground")

I dare you to watch the last one and not feel full-body tingles as the train glides by at top speed. :)
Enjoy!

Yes it is manufactured by Germans
I, myself know quite a bit about these maglev monorails.
For more info on how the transrapid system works along with other information to promote monorails as good transit option, visit www.monorails.org
It gives you quite a bit of info that sure is interesting

The videos at the link I provided, on the history of the TVE (Transrapid Versuchsanlage Emsland) - and The Transrapid Story, espically, is a fantastic view into the last several decades of development. Hightech for "Flying on the Ground" is great if you're into technical details (as I am :)).
The company is now a joint effort of the Transrapid International team as well as ThyssenKrupp, and Siemens.
I think the Transrapid site is a better resource for information, as tMs has typically not had very much information on Transrapid besides their one small page for it. tMs is great for finding out about current news, though! Kim has really taken the club from its infancy into something great.
I actually prefer to disasscociate the Transrapid with conventional monorail technology to provide the differentiation between wheeled and contactless suspension technologies. Keep in mind that if the Transrapid were to replace its magnetic suspension with a conventional wheeled system, it would be far from being a monorail. ;) Although, I think most people now see anything that is riding on any kind of beamway as a monorail. The line blurs.
