The worst has to be Heavenly's though. It is like 3 miles long, so that 15-17 minutes and if you arent in the mood to spend $12 on a burger and have to go down to your car it ends up being an hour off your day just sitting on it.

Well, it's not as if you're forced to use. You can always park at one of the three base lodges like everyone did before the gondola was built. But I was staying in a downtown South Shore location, I know I'd be skiing sooner in the morning by taking the gondola vs. getting to one of the base lodges.

Yea I know, the first time we went we were staying right next to it so that was the option we choose. All around the mountain the access is kinda annoying. You can choose from gondola, Gunbarrel/Tram to Powderbowl then to the top, north bowl lodge with 2 triples or stagecoach which is probably the fastest but most out of the way with 1 express quad.

I think gondolas are a waste of time because you have to remove your skis or snowboard. The exception is a bottom to summit gondola like the one at mammoth or one like the village gondloa where you can't ski down anyway.

I do agree, the bottom to top gondis with alternate lifts are good. Now I like the gondolas, but I think I would get sick of taking my skis on and off after a long time. The ones that transport you to other locations that you won't ride too often would be fine too, like the planned Breck gondi.

The Breck gondi will be great for night lift too if they run it late so that I wont have to drive to the bars or drive to get grocries.

How mant stations is the gondi supposed to have? I know they have one at the base of Peak 8 and Peak 7 as well as the mountain Lodge, but do they have others planned?

The current plan is for the station at the parking lots which will be near city market and main street. The next station will be in the new shock hill development, then to peak 7 then to peak 8.

Do you have a diagram of what that looks like? If not, I will google it.

Most of the homes in the shock hill development are selling in the multi-millions because of the "proposed" gondola. The cheapest lot that I have see for sale in the development was 3/4 acres for $895,000.

Is that solely due to the proposed lift or also to the overall inflated land value in Breck? Reading the real estate ads in the paper, it seems that the closer one gets to town and especially the ski area, the higher the price.

I love 'em! When I was at Tremblant a few weeks ago, I didn't want to ride anything *but* the gondola. :) So awesome looking and fun to watch.

This neighborhood is much further away from the mountain than some other homes in my neighborhood and the homes are many times the price. The prices also shot up when the gondola was proposed.

Real estate in Breck is outrageous if you are on the same side of the valley as the resort. There are still some ski-in ski-out homes that are reasonable though. It just depends on if you look in the older vs. new neighborhoods.

Not too long ago you could buy older homes that are almost slopeside for just over $100k, then everyone decided that summit county was the place to ski.

...and that raised the median home price way up. Even Frisco is starting to get expensive. I understand that market prices are driven by what people are willing to pay, but sometimes it seems a bit much. I'd like to live in Summit County to cut down on the commute, but I can't afford it. Now that i've gotten :offtopic: I should be quiet.

It is absurd how much it costs to live in summit county.
