I'm sure it could be done. There would probably some problems for the first year or so but It could be set up so that the summit line loads every 3rd or 4th chair. If that were the case and they used every 4th then in theory they could have 600 people per minute to the top and 1800 to the top of 6.

If they wanted to I'm sure they could. They could use some light system like with the peak 8 superconnect so they could determine what chair was going where. The tow different lift mazes is a good idea. Being Breck and L-P and with all the interesting projects that they've done, it would certainly be another original project with them.

Number of downloads: 55 if you look really closely there is a hanging light structure down and to the right of the sign. It's not a good pic, but if you saw it up close then there would be a post with a red, blue, and green light.

Doppelmayr actually has built lifts like this in the past. Where you load the lift from the bottom and depending which maze you are in, one will take you to the top of the mountain (this chair will take you to the very top) while if you in the other maze, it would drop you off at the mid station (this lift would turn around and head back down to the bottom).

Interesting. But there is no place to unload at the midstation?

No there is, I just haven't seen a picture of the mid station.

The light that Max mentioned is actually a device to let skiers know how long it will take to get on the lift. However, I'm not sure if this device is ever used because how our skiers supposed to know what that means if they dont' know about lifts? :blinksmiley:

I have never seen any of those lights lit up. I think the QSS and the Independance have them as well.

It could easily be done using the existing technology of the Quicksilver lift. That one has reflective steel plates on the lateral roller assembly that tell a sensor whether the carrier is to go to the outside or inside loading rails. The same setup would tell the midstation computer which carriers are to continue on up or turn around.
That said, I think having two separate lifts in the 6-chair/9-chair pod would work better; it would be much easier to run 6-chair if it's ugly out and not have to worry about the upper section. 9-chair could then be operated as weather permits.
I just noticed that one of the articles calls for replacing 6-chair but using the current terminals. Would that be a Riblet detachable, then? Don't think that will work, people...

Hi!
I was just curious to see what lifts are going to be built at some ski resorts especially the gondola at Breck. I see that some lifts are going to built at Steamboat and a gondola at Copper. Does anyone know anything that I don't?

It appears you know something that I don't- a gondola at Copper?
We've actually been meeting with L-P and D-CTEC on the bid specs for this lift, but since the line's been cut for two years now and nothing else has happened I'm not holding my breath.

Ski down Roundabout from the top of Timberline Express, and as you approach the top of L-lift you'll see it on the lift-hand side of the run. It crosses Roundabout at I-Way and continues down into the trees toward Union Creek lodge. It's not finished yet as there is a steep-walled ravine near the bottom and we don't want that open to skiers. When the lift actually goes in we'll probably rope it off, but until then if you can't get into it you can't get stuck in it.

Some people would undoubtedly be satisfied. Why do so many people care of rriblet anyway?

Riblet was king of the mountain. It was the first lift manufacturer to bring us the first double, triple and quad chair along with the first detachable grip for a chairlift. I presume if Riblet chose to enter into the high-speed market, it would still be around today. Also, its lifts are pretty unique, just because they are so simple and easy to maintain.

I know that there are no light fixtures on the indy and Quicksilver. I do believe that the lights on the Peak 8 light up, just dimly

Snowbird is attempting to get perrmission for the dirt work for thier new HSQ that would replace Peruvian. Also they are planning on building a day logde at the bottom of Gad Valley.

Alta is remoured to possibly remove the Albion lift but this seems unlikely and I've only heard it from one person while riding up a lift.

Solitude is once again tryingto get aproval and build the HSQ replacement of Moonbeam. They have seemed to have given up on the gondola parking lot connection.

Brighton is remoured to be looking into replacing Millicent as a highly anticipated move on thier delvelopement and renewal plan. They would also most likely remove Evergreen.

I haven't heard much about the Park City resorts and besides the roumoured Puorcipine replacement at Snowbasin I haven't heard anything about any other lifts.

Who would those lifts be made by? Looking at the lift info on all of those existing lifts it would appear that they would be mde by DoppCtec. But you can't always know. Keystone has primarily Dopp lifts and their relatively recent new six pack was by Poma.

Whistler was going to build 1-2 surface lifts on flute bowl but I think all plans have been destroyed due to environmental reasons.
