Well 500x500 is the max that we reccomend. Anything bigger that that doesn't run very good at all. Even that can be slow sometimes. 128 x 128 is the size of the smallest level that came with the game. 250x250 is the biggest you can get by using the option where you put a number in the size field. Just choose whatever you want, if it runs too slow, just use a smaller size.

Has anyone heard anything else on the game?

I was browsing Alpinforum and found this:

Game:
Starts in 1950 – map with very small villages and some bad roads.

Player chooses one village and builds here the first things. (some chalets, a tourism office, a lift and some runs).

If there are many tourists the village will grow and the AI will start building more houses you will get more money buy more lifts and runs………. .

Lifts:
Properties of the different lift – systems like written in the concept (10 point system); Mechanics similar like in the system of SPM (you hire them….), but if you haven’t mechanics there should be an option to repair the lifts by an external company. (If lift is broken down and u have no mechanics or mechanics are anywhere and the lift is important, just a button “Repair lift by an own company for xxxxxx ¤” – and the lift is repaired immediately – (very expensive!!)
If there is a heavy wind the lift will decrease automatically its speed and try to get the people who are already on the lift off (in the bottom station nobody else could go on this lift).
If there is a heavy storm the lift automatically stops complete. Then the player can decide if he wants to start the lift although there is the storm (very dangerous, the lift can crash and people get hurt) or if the people have to wait on the lift for the end of the storm (the longer they have to wait, the worse it is for the reputation of your ski resort!)
If there are many people in a queue of a lift people should automatically look for an alternative.

If there are two lifts with the same route like in the picture, the people should first go on the better lift (faster, more comfort). But when there are really many people in the queue of the Funitel they should use the old 1p chair.

Building of the lifts:
In SPM the lift takes the shortest way to get to his destination. I want to set the way myself and I want to build middle-stations to. With middle stations I can change the direction of the lift about 45° or 90°.

Runs
Building should be similar to the System of SPM. (with automatic terra forming…) But an assistant should help to define the colour of the Run.
The player should define how often the snow vehicle should prepare the run. (once a week, once every 2 days, once a day, twice a day); There should be a button – on click the snow vehicle (if there is one without work) should start preparing the run immediately. If the player has many snow vehicles a run can be prepared by more than one snow vehicle  faster.
Important: In SPM the status of the run turns yellow. This is senseless! No yellow-run-status in MT! Just red or green!
Use of the runs: In SPM the people often use just one run and the others are empty  very unrealistic. If there is a certain amount of people on one run, the people should choose another one because it is too crowded.

Vehicles
The player builds a garage. There he can buy snow vehicles and snow cannons.

Bus System
Player just builds Stations and set an amount of money he wants to pay for a good bus system. (Similar to Sim City)

Artificial Snow
There will be different Systems, with different properties (use of water, use of energy) – 10 point System like written in concept.
Snow lances are on fix points defined und built by the player.
Snow cannons are not on fix points. They are bought in the garage. The player chooses the run to that this snow canon belongs. The guard of the run takes the snow cannon and transports the cannon to its destination. The location of every snow canon is decided automatically by the AI (usually there where is the littlest amount of snow). At the end of a season the cannons are taken back to the garage. (The beginning/end of the winter season is defined by the player manually!).
The player decides if snow cannons are only making snow in the night or if they should work day and night.

Avalanches
- Fences
- Avalanche guards:

The new Avalanche Guard developed by Doppelmayr is used to blast dangerous snow accumulations with charges fired from a set of ten launching tubes. The launchers are located in a protective cubicle with an electrical locking device.

Roads
In 1950 there is a standard road system connecting the villages.
The player can build all kinds of roads (including highways). He has to build enough park houses for his guests.

Events
If there are good enough runs in the player’s resort. for a downhill or slalom Race he gets asked (already in summer!!) if he wants an event in his ski resort.
There is a fix date and a list of all runs in the player’s resort which are in the specifications.
Downhill: (missing: FIS requirements for weltcup downhill run)
Slalom: (missing: FIS requirements for weltcup slalom run)
If the player wants the event he has to choose one of the listed runs and to accept.
In winter (on the day of the event) the chosen run must have enough snow and must be well prepared for a race! If not the player has to pay money and it would be bad for the reputation of his ski resort.

Ok because the other site does not want me posting there right now i wil just repost on this site.

Hello everyone,
Lots of Mountain Tycoon news coming your way today. This will be update 1 of 2 that I will post today. The second will have screen shots which will be found in the Game Screenshots section of this site under Mountain Tycoon.

Ok first of all the the Official Mountain Tycoon Forums should be running by the end of the week. The site may also be up by that time to. Information about this will be found on the official mountain tycoon website www.mountain-tycoon.com There will also be a link to the old forums for those of you who want to view past news.

We have been hard at work on this game and now its time for an update that will show you a few of the features of the game and also what the games status is.
-The game is still in development stage and the base code is still be improved.
- Currently we are working on the terrain generating engine and then the Lift Generating Engine
- The game is going to have a totaly new 3d engine that is almost done being made. It is a new generation engine with advance vertex and pixel shader.
-After this is done completely a physical engine will be developed that really lets you feel the game. A person will be able to walk, ride, ski, and snowboard. You will be able to take lifts but not like in SRT this will be different and much more real. We want to have the same quality as Borader zone (concerning control sensations...)
-It will be a mix between arcade and simulation
-You be able to leave first person view to build things. The camera will be totally free and you will be able to see all of the mountain and the improved building system.
-You will be able to follow all your guest -There will be a day and night cycle and you will have the option of opening trails for night skiing. You will also be able to set times for lifts to close and open.
-Guests will be able to go to the night club and things like that at night.
-When a trail closes a ski patroller will go to the top and drag a tape across the trail
-Trails that are only at 5% quality will autoclose and trails at 10% will notify you by sending a message. You will also be able to set the 10% to a higher number so that you are notified earlier for trails like olympic trails.
-It is alot less expansive and faster to build in spring and summer
- The AI will be smart enough not to go on closed trails and closed areas of the mountain
-You will be able to designate gladed areas for skiing
-Ski patrol might be able to put thin cover and ice signs on trails so that skiiers avoid those areas but not sure yet
-AI is very smart
-AI will know to take another trail and another trail to go to the bottom of the mountain if nessacery
-Ski Area Boundaries
-Ability to have very large number of runs
-Dynamic Snow
-You will see ice and grass on trails

OK thats all for now. More to come later today. Please post all questions in the questions topic. This is update one of 2. The second as I already mentioned will have screen shoots posted in the game screen shots section of this site

Mattlab

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the second update today.
-Maps will be big
-Also you will be able to play maps of the real ALPES
-Eventually American Mountains might be included

A few screenshots will be uploaded to the Game Screenshots section of this site. Later tonight.

Please put all questions and suggestions about this game in the other topic about Mountain Tycoon Questions.

Also http://www.mountain-t.fr.st/ has many old screenshots that are still worth checking out. The final ones may be very different from what you will find on that site.

Also the distribution mode of this game has not yet been defined.

Riblet would also be another good lift manufacturer for FG lifts, they are still the leading manufacturer in lift installation in North America, even when they are no longer in business.

Are you going to use American or European designs for lifts, or both?

Ok i will answer the lift question in my next post which i might do later today but.
Im going to say now in mountain tycoon there will be midstations and you will be able to change the direction that your lift is going! Our forums should be out either today or by wendsday of this week. We are just waiting on some final editing and work and uploading that is currently being done. Also i will be able to answer all questions about what lifts are in the game either today or tommarow when i get the information back on my computer. I just don't have it availiable right now.
