Well on friday we drove up to Kirkwood, stayed in South Lake Tahoe that night and went to Alpine Meadows on saturday. At Alpine I got some pictures of White Wolf and their new lift and we also drove south down to Homewood and got some photos of their new Partek triple and some other stuff. Overall a fun trip but it got too warm this afternoon.
I have a bunch of pictures I want to post but I cant right now due to "Global Limt" (no more file upload space for me) so we will have to wait a day or 2. :(

Thank you Bill.
Ok to start here are a few panorama's of both Alpine and Kirkwood.
Here is Kirkwood's frontside from Red Cliff's. This gives a pretty good prespective of the area:

Alpine from the top of Summit Six. In 2 previous trips I never saw the lake or anything from the top because of clouds. Its a pretty nice view from up there:

First is the Alpine Bowl Double. THis chair used to run in the spring instead of Summit so that they only had to run one express lift (Roundhouse).
-This is the top terminal. It is built into a nice building to keep snow off:

-Next is a shot down the line:

The Hot Wheels chair was built in 1998 and replaced the Weasel double. That lift ran a bit of an up and over lift line but the new one ends short but does have a midway unloading point.
-The first shot is one down the liftline:

-Next is one of the top terminal:
HW_2.jpg (105.25K)

The Lakeview Triple lift provides access to several southwest facing runs. The triple replaced the Scott T-bar and was built sometime in the 80s by CTEC.
-This shows the liftline and the runs it provides access:

The Scott chair is one of the steepest chairlifts in North America. The lift was upgraded to a triple in 98 by CTEC with new drive and return terminals, new chairs and sheave assemblies.
-THe first shot is one up the liftline. It is kinda tough to see how steep this lift actually is, and the Scott Chute (run underneath) didnt look to fun, but trust me it is steep. You can nearly reach back and touch the haulrope:

-Next is another shot looking up from the very bottom. One one uphill assembly there are only two support sheaves:
S_2.jpg (103.4K)
Number of downloads: 39
-Last is a shot from the top. You can see the yan towers were reused and one new tower was added as a hold down just before the first steep stretch:

The Subway chair is a double that gives access to one of the bunny slopes. It was built after 1980 and replaced the Subway Poma.
-First is of the bottom terminal. A different look for a yan bottom drive, and I think its actually kinda nice:
SB_1.jpg (89.79K)
Number of downloads: 31
-Next is of the top, an adjustable yan return:
SB_2.jpg (91.14K)
Number of downloads: 20
-3rd is one of the bottom looking up the line. I find it odd that yan built this lift, especially after two CTEC lifts in the early 80s:
SB_3.jpg (93.49K)
Number of downloads: 29
The Sherwood chair has to be the oldest CTEC triple I've ever seen. It is a very odd ctec with angled towers. I believe this lift has newer ctec carriers and was upgraded with new tensioning.
-The drive terminal and looking up line:
SW_1.jpg (82.25K)
Number of downloads: 33
-A shot on the line. Notice the very odd towers, expecially for a CTEC:
SW_2.jpg (74.1K)
Number of downloads: 34
-last is the return terminal. Its kinda bad light but you get the idea:

A random tractor. Alpine uses these to pull around some trailers for people to sit on and ride it to the lodge from their car. They have two and they look pretty funny driving around at maybe 3 mph through the lot:

Last is a shot of the White Wolf property. I got a few other closeups but they are far to blurry, so I took one with my 35mm and a telephoto lens so when I get those developed and enlarged I will scan it in. Just to the right of the last tower you see is the top of KT-22 Express at Squaw. No terminals, sheave assemblies or haul rope are up, so that will probably happen this summer:

While at Alpine I believe I found the old Lower Forty lift. Im not sure if it was a poma or a t-bar, but I do know it was a surface. The lift was 1,170 feet long and had a 3 minute ride time. In the operator booth on one of the panels someone wrote that the lift was destroyed by an avalance, so it kinda makes sense.
First is of the lower drive terminal, all that is left besides the operator booth:

Next is of some panels in the booth. I dont know what they do but I'm sure they were for the lift:

3rd is of the drive out of the booth:

Last is a shot up the line. The lift ran into the woods into the clearing marked just above the arrow:

Ok, these are a few pictures of the new Quail Triple over at Homewood. The lift is pretty nice and was seems like a very nice addition for Homewood.
The frist few are of the drive terminal. I really like the paint job.

Some pictures of the snow on the trip.
Covered Wagon up by Kirkwood. They have plans to access this stuff by a lift but i'm not sure how its going to work. The terrain is pretty fun though (3rd day after storm cleared):

Based on the diameter of the bullwheel on that surface lift I would say it was a poma/platter.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.
"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"

Do you mean the Subway lift because that would make sense. Maybe the Scott chair?
