Does anyone have pictures of the mid station as well as the top station of this lift?

This shot shows a decent view of the midstation. It runs only on one side of the lift much like heavenly's gondola. The upper terminal i don't know but i can assume it's enclosed like the lower terminal to protect the inner workings better on such an exposed area.

Ok thanks for the pic and info. I couldnt remember if the midstation was for both up and down line sides. The upper terminal is actualy built into the side of the mountain and is seems like youre going into a cave and then on the tires it makes two small turns then a 90 degree right turn before reaching the unloading ramp. I just wanted to find some pics because I didnt get any when I was up there.

Wow! This is a detachable I see... is cadencing/spacing performed at the midstation as well?

There is no space clutch at the midstation, rather the carriers just detach from the haul rope and then reattach. The midstation is starting to look pretty banged up and probably will have to be replaced in the future with a better and stronger design. The metal side panels can no longer can stay on because of the amount of snow that area gets in the winter time when the lift is closed.

Maybe they will build a structure arround the mid-station?

Here's some information from the 1997 Doppelmayr World Book about the lift.

Crazy! so the lift actually goes right overtop of the midstation in the winter?

If that's the case, I can't help but think the difference in length of the rope would be greater than the travel at the terminus for tensioning. I wonder how that is addressed?

Instead of having the haul rope go under like 4 towers to enter and leave the midstation, it just goes over 1 so the tension really doesn't need to be adjusted. You also have to remember that the length of the haul rope also changes do the surrounding temperature. So basically, if there is a sliet tension difference, it probably doesn't really matter.

My guess is that one of the terminals has fixed tension that allows the mechanics to move the terminal only when removing the midstation line equipment from the loop, while the opposing station maintains proper tension during operation. Remember ropes also stretch in the heat - and it's a fairly long lift, so they would have to allow room on the carriage for that as well.

The Flying Mile Lift at Tremblant (around 94 or 95 Dopp) also has a midstation, but for using the Alpine Luge in the summer. The haul rope is only in the midstation during the summer, and they take the cable out for normal winter use. The midstation looks nearly exactly the same as the one on the Palmer Express.

Remove it from the shaves assemblies on the towers above and then pull it down and pop it into the mid station like allan talked about when the lift isn't tensioned all the way.
